A motorcycle accident at that speed... Your very lucky man!
|
glad you're up and about again. Dumping a bike can be a dangerous ordeal.
|
Glad to hear this ended with you being alive, Joe. Some years ago my younger brother wanted to take his Bike test and I begged him not to, he had paid for it in full, non refundable, I talked him out of it and gave him back every cent out my own pocket so he wouldn't take the test, he is bad enough in a car, I couldn't imagine him on a Bike.

Crazy luck buddy, glad to hear you are ok. That is pretty much a miracle at that speed.
|
50 mph in the fast lane on 101? damn, was it like 3am and no traffic, that's hauling ass!
|
You're a survivor. Welcome to the ranks. Yes, I took a couple of road slides back in the 80's, although the worst one was at around 60 km/h which is about 20kms slower than yours. I was cut off in heavy downtown traffic, I got somewhat banged up and earned some road rash on my left leg, had the leather jacket and helmet on. Bike was totalled. And as it happens there was an unmarked police car stopped just ahead of me (about 30 feet past where my bike stopped sliding), they saw everything, called for a tow truck, and an ambo for me.
As it happenedc a carload of hot girls pulled over, all of them saw what happened, all were freaked out, and I ended up getting one of their numbers. Nice blonde in the back seat. She turned out to be a danger addict so I had to let her go but it was fun while it lasted. Ah the memories. I don't think I know a single rider from back in those days who didn't earn some road rash. Thankfully most survived, as did you Joe. Welcome back btw. |
Fitty lucky breaks :thumbsup

Bikes are dangerous as fuck. I have owned 4 in my lifetime and still have 1. I Love riding but every season there is at least 1 close call that makes me wonder if I should sell the god damn thing. They say it's not if you will crash but when and how bad. Glad you came out okay Joe! |

Thankyou guys for all the heart warming messages. Couple of responses really got to me. Evil Chris asked how will this change me.. Well Im not a religious man, but I do have a bit more belief we are watched over in some way. I will continue to ride my bike. I may be a bit cautious my 1st few days but I think what saved me was all my years of riding as it was happening I didn't panic and just rolled with it. Still I was very lucky and Im very appreciative of all my friends a lot more. I miss a lot of you guys. ALos I wasn't wearing leather I was wearing jeans and a padded wind breaker jacket with gloves. BTW I was going 65 not 50. Im very lucky to be here. Im very happy to help anyone here who needs assistance. Youre all my friends.

Been riding 6 years now, had 2 bad accidents - neither of them avoidable.. Have titanium plates in both collar bones, pain in my hip a year later, a pinky finger that doesn't bend properly.... I should really sell mine too... |
Those that say bikes are too dangerous just do not understand. We that ride have been injured, maimed and had friends that were killed. Not for a minute does the idea of giving up riding come into play.
That is just the way it is. |

You're very lucky.
Know someone who crashed at 20-30 mph, flew over a car because of a stupid whore who was turning in the middle of the road. Result: intensive care, even though wearing a helmet face fucked up, cant think fast anymore, reconstructive surgery about 2 years later still, depressed, unable to work a decent job: Fucked up his life. |

I come from a strong motorcycle family. Both my father and brother own Harleys. I don't own a bike. It never really took with me. My brother and I drove euduros and motocross bikes in our youth and I had a few bad spills, but it doesn't make you want to quit. We did crazy jumping stuff too. Probably not a great idea, but when you're 14 and 15 years old, you just don't think of the danger! :winkwink: |
Thank god for happy endings.
