I run 5 Km to 10 Km every other day, and lift on the days in between. Typically I take a day off at some point during the week.

Every Day except Sunday. I use Laird Hamilton's circuit workout routine (you can find it in his book).

in my experience i would say it has more to do with how effective your workouts are rather than how often you are doing it. Going a few times a week to the gym for weights (compound muscle movements only) and cardio sessions are only around 6-15 minutes--which can be more than enough for endurance training if you do it right ;)

What is your resting heart rate?

Arnox 04-30-2013 11:52 AM

I'm currently training for a 24-hour ultra marathon (running) that's taking place in 10 weeks. I'm running close to 60 km per week and hope to do 150k in that 24 hours.

Typically about 54 bpm. Higher than it used to be, but then I also smoke cigars and drink wine almost every night, and I'm 50, so..... :winkwink:

5-6 times per week!

Been doing sprints every other day for about a month and my midesction is already starting to look better. This only takes 10 minutes out of my day, but the sprints get me to a point of huffing and puffing. I also have an hour walk with my dog in the morning and replace a couple of meals with green shakes made with collard greens, kale and broccoli.

A lot of people didn't get the memo that you don't have to grind away in a gym for an hour to lose weight. Do anything intensely for a few minutes and a day, and that beats any hour of moderate exercise.

It goes back to what Glen said...it's more about the quality of what you're doing. The best part about short, intense workouts is the time savings -- and it burns more calories all day.

Ive also found that sprints work very well for staying in shape. HIT cardio in general works very well.

Mine hovers around there, I'm about 10 pounds heavier than I should be, 200 pounds right now.

In high school I remember weight around 165 and being are best miler and having a heart rate in the mid high 30's. If my weight is in the 180's from cardio it's usually around 44 or so.
