My other issue is fast food/take out being included at all. Unless the thread title is misleading from what the original article was about, I don't consider take out "groceries." Groceries are what I go to the store to buy to cook later. You know, shit I buy at the grocery store. So Burger King, McDonald's, etc. aren't groceries, even though the title is a "week's worth of groceries." If it was "what a family eats for a week," then...

no, that is not typical of my family, or any family i know.... having said that, i know people here do love fast food... but typically it is (unfortunately) more geared towards poor people.

for some reason, which i will never understand, some families think its cheaper to spend $5 on a fast food dinner than to spend $5 in the grocery store for food.

The americans i know avoid fast food, most people here are realizing how bad it is for you, but there is still a looong way to go before all americans improve their diet.

as a parent i pay even more attention to it... my son is almost 3 and has eaten fast food maybe 5 times in his life, and always because we are driving on vacation or something, and even then we always try to pack as much food as we can to avoid McNasty food
