No asshole is worth killing yourself over, regardless of what he has done to you.
If you want revenge here are some suggestions:
If he has done shit in the past he probably will do shit in the future, gather evidence (or hire a PI for that) and put him away for good.
If he is aggressive you could always hire someone really good at fighting to provoke him until he attacks so that your guy has a legit reason to kick his ass.
Make him loose his job, if he has one. Far easier than people think, especially when it comes to ex cons.
If he has a business go after his clients and suppliers, make sure they know who they are dealing with.

If you don't mind going illegal there are a lot of things you can do to make people suffer with little risk to yourself.
