Not only that but the sensory organs such as the ability to see to target prey (living humans) is dependent on working eyes which work in conjunction with a working brain...neither of these zombies have.

Simply ruins the entire concept of the zombie movie for me I am afraid.

I bet you are tons of fun to party with

looks good :)

I agreed with the critics, the movie was action-packed but it was pretty hollow. The book truly is superior. I read somewhere that from the start, the movie wasn't going to be an adaptation but they kept that part from the public, and Max Brooks allegedly wasn't closely involved with the production.

I like to think that Zombies have their body-state "frozen" when they become infected and it's over a period of time that their body becomes damaged by the elements, disease, bumping into stuff etc, until the "virus", or whatever agent is used to turn them into the Zombie, itself dies/fades and rapid decomposition starts to take place.

If you look at the "Zombies" in 28 Days Later (ja, I know some don't think of them as Zombies) for example they are infected with a virus that causes them to go berserk, so they could last a pretty long time with full motor functions and be able to sprint etc. If you then look at Romero's idea of Zombies from Dawn of the Dead they get infected and over a period of time their bodies start to degenerate into the typical "zombie" look.

Having said all that, it's a Zombie movie, best not to over-think it and just enjoy the action :)

They are far from slow in World War Z, their muscles don't have time to rot and they have barely functioning eyes. So you should love this one.

No, what's ruining it for you is all that overthinking you're doing. You need to put all that physiological bullshit out of your mind and just enjoy it for what it is. That being fantasy entertainment.

Fantasy.

I need to see this movie.

CDSmith 06-30-2013 10:25 PM

Opening weekend World War Z tops $250 million.

http://www.boxoffice.com/latest-news

I can remember when a big movie's opening w/e took in over $25 mill and it was a big deal.

The more I think about the last third of the movie, the more I like it. They solved the problem in a smart way, not with endless shooting hordes of zombies -- like any other summer blockbuster would do.

I have seen it and there are some incredible scenes. No spoilers from me, (if there are any left) but you shouldn't be in a thread talking about a movie if you haven't seen it and don't want spoliers.

All I can say is I can see where the $400 million was spent. Amazing special effects.

Yes, but I hear that much of the overbudget stems from callbacks, rewrites and reshooting several parts. Without all that weighing it down the cost of this movie could have possibly been at least half of what it ultimately ended up costing.

It'll still turn a sizeable profit I'm sure.

Granted, the film still has a long way to go before it reaches profitability. Vanity Fair's article about the production estimates the final budget at $225 million, and that would be before whatever the studio spent on marketing and distribution.

Current Box Office:$123.7M :helpme

Is that the USA or N American-only figure?

Because as I've already posted, boxoffice.com has reported that the total revenue on this movie world-wide was just over $250 mill their opening weekend.

They'll be profitable in no time I'm sure. Plus once they launch the video game the sky's the limit.

Some of those damn vid games earn more than blockbuster movies these days.
