Permits came screaming to a halt due to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

This is nothing more than cherry picking stats. One sides picks a date range that produces stats that is favorable to their argument and ignores the rest. They picked a date range when permits dropped due to an environmental disaster and ignore that fact that oil production went up during the same period.

Oil production is up because of permits issued by Bush and Clinton on federal land

permits on private and state land are up.

That's why

Well for starters, new land isn't just coming out of no where.. Unless we take over Canada there isn't any new BLM land to just give away to the oil companies like they would like.

See the right thinks just because there is govt owned land, that oil companies should have access to all of it for their profit taking. The Right fails to realize that federal land is owned by the citizens of this country for their usage not just big oil's.

Therefore when Obama decided it wasn't worth the risk of damaging much of this environmentally sensitive land forever when compared to the oil it would produce. Obama decided the best option was to protect the federal land so that all US citizens could enjoy it and not just let big oil ruin it while gouging the American pubic.

Added bonus even Jeb Bush whom was a Republican Governor of Florida was against drilling off the Fl coast due to the negative impact it would have on Florida tourism. Not to mention the environmental issues that would occur if a spill took place.

God damn Liberal Jeb Bush I bet he even runs for President in 2016. Fucking Commie not letting big oil have their way! Oust him!

Oil production is up because of Fracking.. Which is it's own subject of how bad that is going to fuck up the world's water supplies.

Simply put fracking allows them to get oil that they could never get before. Oil that we have a lot of in this country but they couldn't get it it until technology caught up. Canada also has a lot of this oil that is only available via fracking.

So permits on private land and state land is up, but down on federal land. Production is up. Basically, you are trying to make a point about nothing.

Oil production is up under Obama. Period.

They are mad because he wouldn't open up anwr Alaska and wouldn't let them drill off the coast of FL. Something that no other president has done either.. However because it's a Democrat it's suddenly a big deal.

Like most things the Right does, it was just a bunch of hoopla for the cameras and mountains made of mole hills.

Meanwhile more oil is pumping out of the ground on US soil than ever has before, which equals Obama is a commie because they couldn't drill everywhere they wanted.

The mindset of their country is becoming more progressive, and they're living in the 50's.

The USA needs two parties, but when one side is bunch of bigoted, obstructing, undermining assholes it can't work.

So true and well said... I'm a democrat (always been) but Republican's will lose the next election

I don't care who wants to drill where or why, or who is charge.

Vendzilla is trying to debate that permits are down. It's irrelevant because oil production is up. No one cares about permits; Oil production is up and that's all that matters.

I am not Democrat; I believe I've voted Republican my entire life. But the Republican party is so far out of whack right now that it's comical. Just to explain how bad it is for the Republican party, they put up a POW War Hero with thirty years political experience up against a relatively unknown BLACK senator from Mobsterland AND LOST. And then followed that up four years later with the failed Governor of Massachusetts who left office there with a 34% approval rating? Who the fuck at the Republican party decided it was okay for someone who left political office with a 34% approval rating to run for President?

I mean, seriously, the Republican party threw both elections intentionally, right?

And the only response from Minte is to complain that Obama raised the deficit while ignored Bush did the same, and Vendzilla bitching about permits while oil production goes up? Is that all you have?

?

When I asked my father in law (a dyed in the wool Republican) why he was voting for Mitt Romney, he said "because he knows how to run a company and make money. Obama doesn't know a damn thing about how money or an economy works."

The GOP made the mistake of thinking there's more old white people out there with this mindset than there truly are.

Mitt Romney never made anything. He raped companies that were vulnerable and sold off the pieces for whatever he could get, putting people out of work and ruining families/lives. If I would bring this up, my father-in-law would say its some untruth by the "left wing media".

Vulture capitalism by a sociopath is not a pre-requisite for being president. We're SO fucking lucky that spineless, lying sack of shit Romney didn't get the White House. Wall Street would be running wild(er) and we'd be on the verge of -- or in another false war to keep the military industrial complex humming.

I think yes that's all the Republican party has.. What is worse is they will try to run Paul Ryan as their next candidate. Him or Jeb Bush, whom over all isn't horrible he's likely the best of the 3 Bush's however he will never get elected with that name..

Pretty much yeah, that's all they have. If they had better they would have put it forward. Instead they push forward the crackpots and the lame ducks because that's all they have left.

I agree with you. He used other peoples money to buy companies, made money by charging huge "consulting fees", and then made more money if the company by chance was bought out. If not, they didn't loose anything - it wasn't their money to loose, and they made money no matter what. Rinse and repeat.

This was the core root of the problem with our economy - The banks couldn't loose. They made money selling houses, and when those people couldn't afford it they took the house back, sold it for even more, and made even more money. Rinse and repeat.

I cannot say that Obama is a better "business wise" - I don't think Obama ever ran a company his entire life. But being President is one thing - It's not only being a businessman. It's so much more than that.

I honestly believe the Republican party threw the last two elections. They knew they had no hope in hell, and their best bet is let the other side run with the ball - and hope the other side drops it. Instead the Republican party just wants to bitch and complain about everything. The Republican party has changed politics forever - Now it will be acceptable for the loosing side to bitch about everything, drag everything out, and do it's best to bring everything to stand still just to make the other side look bad.

The Republican party needs to wow us to take back the white house.

The most ironic thing, is the only real hope the right at the White House in 2016, baring some unforeseen miracle man is Chris Christie. The best part about that is most Republicans hate his guts because they see him as a traitor being he praised Obama after Sandy. :1orglaugh

Honestly though, I don't know much about how well he is as a governor, but he's the only Republican I've seen so far, whom name has been tossed around for 2016, that doesn't act like a total ass-monger. He's the only guy I could think of that "might" be able to pull swing voters..

Also I read today that Trump might run again.. I'm like really.. I mean really? I'm starting to think he just runs in order to make the other GOP candidates look better.. Then again he's just a publicity whore..
