shimmy2 06-09-2013 03:45 AM

lost 20lbs in 1 mo on p90x then stopped. not good for gaining muscle only for trimming down

dyna mo 06-09-2013 05:58 AM

i've gained plenty of muscle on p90x. ~10 pounds

if you don't do the program correctly, for the full 90 days, you can't really comment on what the gains can be or are.

Dyna, how the HECK are you gaining 10lbs of muscle in 90 days off any program without "help". C'mon, u know the body cant produce muscle that fast. You may have gained 10lbs but it surely was not all muscle. maybe 3lbs of that TOPS 10lbs would be about a years worth of consistent weight training with 100% flawless diet.

Choopa Phil 06-11-2013 08:59 AM

Chest and Bis today!

Incline Smith 75 degree Angle - 3/20
Incline Smith 65 degree Angle - 3/20
Incline Smith 55 degree Angle - 3/20
Incline Smith 45 degree Angle - 3/20
Flat Smith - 3/20
Dips - 1/Failure

Seated cable curl - 5/20
Superset
Dumbbell Hammer Curl - 5/8 (explode/slow negative)

Bicycle Crunch - 4/100

bronco67 06-11-2013 09:29 AM

P90x or Insanity will work if you just do it. If you want to save the 100 bucks, you can also lose weight by laying on your back flailing your limbs wildly for 20 minutes until you're laying in a pool of sweat. Movement is movement.

i'm on my 6th-ish 90 day cycle and i've gained 10 pounds of muscle. not a goal btw.

i never said i gained 10 pounds of muscle in 90 days, i was simply stating that it's unfair to say you can't gain muscle on p90x, especially after using the program for only 30 days.

Got ya, 10lbs in 540 days!? Need more resistance in there! :thumbsup Seems like a decent program if you cant get to the gym, or used as a supplement to training protocol. 3 days of legs/back/chest, 2 days of P90

BlackCrayon 06-11-2013 09:42 AM

has anyone tried the ea sports active 2 workout game for ps3? i've been doing that off and on for a couple years now. i'm sure its nothing to some people on here but it makes me sweat like a bitch and my legs sore as hell from squats, lunges, etc.

the only way i could seriously gain is massive drug program and a trainer pushing me beyond anything i could imagine. i'm older and have some health/hormone limitations.

+ i don't want to get bigger, i am as healthy as i can be, strong as ever and i get to keep all my current pants and shirts.

maybe the guns though. :upsidedow

Doesnt take drugs to grow, I hate when people even refer to that shit. You just need the right training protocol. Shoot me your email and ill send you over my monthly program ive been posting snipets from. I think youll be pleasantly surprised, not to mention you will definitely make progress! Got my gf on it she went from 82lbs to 94lb brick shit house in little less than 9 months, gotta love those newb gains!

dyna mo 06-11-2013 09:55 AM

i'm 48 years old, i've juiced, i've gh'ed. i've hired the best trainers, i've wasted time with the worst. i've done wieder, 5x5, you name it. this all started 35 years ago. i've been big(ger). i've been smaller.

Are you on HRT now?

no. i did that ~4 years ago for a year. the roi wasn't there for me. maybe i didn't see the benefits but @ ~$400/month, if i recall right, it didn't make sense. on the other hand, steroids have had a noticeable effect in the past. i used one with the gh as well.

Choopa Phil 06-11-2013 10:08 AM

And your body is naturally producing again after a full year of being "shut down"? Did you actually need HRT or were you just taking an HRT dose to supplement? 400/Mo!? thats 100/Shot, thats insane!!!

this was through a hormone doctor here in socal, it was not cheap but i felt it the best way to go about the therapy. if it worked, i could go elsewhere for supplies after sorting out the regiment with the doctor, but i've learned self-prescribing prolongs sorting out proper dosages. it also may have been under $400, i don't have the receipts here, but not by much.

i took it to supplement, but the doc ran the blood panels and said i needed it, just like most other 45 year old males.

Choopa Phil 06-11-2013 10:19 AM

Damn, you gotta get some insurance that covers it! I know here without INS, dr's are charging $100 for the initial visit around 100/bottle for test cyp 250mg/ML, at an HRT dose of 100-150mg/week thatll last you quite some time, anywhere from 16-25 weeks. Throw in some bloods and ancillaries, im not sure why you were being charged 400/Mo, thats outrageous.

dyna mo 06-11-2013 10:28 AM

i went through quite a bit of research before picking the doctor i went with. i was aware of his costs in comparison to others and felt his expertise was worth the added expense.

hormone therapy is something i don't think is worth monkeying with. as you prolly know, insulin is required for muscle growth, in conjunction with gh. i have a pretty bizarre variety of type 1 diabetes, it was important to me to seek out a hormone specialist who had experience so we could sort out my hormone situation. that's not cheap but it is worth it.

Makes complete sense, definitely took some cojones to even consider doing that with your current condition. So how do you feel now vs when you were on HRT? Better, worse, same?

well, my situation now is different than then so. a lot has changed in 4 years. but i feel fine these days. i don't push the training as hard as i used to, maintenance only.

i'll dial it up pre-vacation but i keep at ~11%bf exercising <30 minutes 4-5 days a week. a solid diet, of course, proper amount of cals being a priority. on a daily basis i look a lot better than dudes 1/2 my age.

no alcohol though. i'll *maybe* have a vodka otr on a date or whatever, rarely. this alone makes it all a lot easier, as you know.

Choopa Phil 06-11-2013 11:14 AM

100%, that's a great BF to be at, and yea id say more than 1/2. Having a good look around when you're at the beach really puts things into perspective. We are the minority to the 3rd degree, sad in a way. But you cant force people to change, they have to want it.

Anybody ever go on testosterone? I'm about to start Testopel soon, and I plan on putting it to good use. I'm actually one of the people who really does have a medical problem, and needs to supplement because of a varicocele -- which has been corrected with surgery, but the testosterone is still needed to boost my number.

I have kind of felt like shit lately, so I'm wondering if it really does make a difference in the way you feel.

Anyone here using sports tracker for android?

I've been hovering around 200 for a quite a while, but couldn't go on the testosterone because of other issues. I don't know what the dose is yet. We've only discussed it and I have an appointment in a couple of weeks. This doctor specializes in all things male, and is one of the top guys in my area.

I already have a good ability to get in shape and put on muscle, so I'm wondering how much better it could be after starting my therapy.

I'm assuming heart related or cholesterol related? 200 is WAYYY low, last time I was tested it was 898 and thats on the high/er side. A 100-150mg shot should bring you right into the sweet spot.

Yeah I had a varicocle which almost killed my T production, and it went on for years without me knowing about it. I still do OK because I'm in good shape, I can grow a beard and I have no problems in the bedroom. I would just say I feel like shit most of the time, and now it makes sense when I found out about the Low T.

I'm going on Testopel, which is subcutaneously implanted in the butt cheek every 3 months. It releases its dosage intermittently, which supposedly gives you a more balanced effect -- and none of it is wasted. We'll see.

Choopa Phil 06-12-2013 12:34 PM

Sub Q or Intramuscular is the way to go. SubQ offers a longer released time even with a regular testosterone based injection.

BlackCrayon 06-12-2013 12:37 PM

does no one just exercise anymore without all the other stuff?

the subcutaneous test must be new eh? it was intramuscular only when i was on it.

Nothing new at all, just not the way most people go. Injections go into the subQ layer all the time especially when you dont use a long enough pin. Once it does go subQ it takes a little longer for absorption but you also run the risk of a little more post injection pain.

bronco67 06-12-2013 12:55 PM

After watching this video, I don't know if want to subject my body to this every 3 months.

My doc told me that one thing that's great about the pellets is that after the initial week of healing, you forget you have a T problem. With creams, gels and injections you're constantly reminded.
