Ok so I love Apple. Very much indeed.... With that said:
I have installed ios7 on my development phone and I have the following to say about it: 1. I love the bottom features which allow for quick access to common items including a flashlight, wifi, calculator etc. all I the items we used to navigate through menus to is easily reachable now. 2. ITunes radio: basically like a pandora. I'm sad that they don't allow Internet radio but instead only have pre made stream channels obviously created to boost record sales in itunes as each one playing had buy now buttons. I'm not liking this although it might be a good free replacement to XM. 3. Very unstable at this moment!! I can barely sync my phone or get music to play and a lot of other things are just b0rk3d. Again it's beta so in not in a position to bitch or blame. 4. Regarding the "flatness"... Yes it's flat and very very colorful. IMHO tooooo colorful. Looking at this at night is blinding. It feels very gay influenced color wise and resembles android/windows too much for my taste. (Fuck windows, Fuck android). The colors reminded me of fruit loops cereal. That's it for now. |
very very colorful has nothing to do with android and everthing to do with oversatured samsung amoled screens
y'all know there are other android smartphones than samsung right? check out lg's ips display for accurate mind-blowing color. |
no steve
no apple goodbye |

Doesn't Android have OS skin apps similar to Window Blinds?
I know I've seen something to that effect in the Play store, but didn't look too close. |
I thought you where taking the piss with the new mac design apparently not

Not loving everything about the design changes but I'd say about 80% of the new look is cool with me. Maybe it's just leaving familiar territory. Surprisingly the messages app is the thing I like the least, I've noticed a few bugs in it and actually would prefer to be able to custom change the colours. I LOVE the new control app at the bottom. So thankful for it, it's gonna get a ton of use. I'm in Canada and don't feel like fucking with the DNS so no iRadio for me, but I don't use any third party e-radio services like Pandora as it is, so I doubt I'll miss it. No sync / crash bugs for me so far. It hasn't crashed a single app however I am noticing a few small bugs here and there, none of which affect usability. As far as the "flatness" goes, I like that it's more angular and I'm SO glad the skeumorphic bullshit is gone. Almost all the apps I download I do so for their minimalism and simplicity, so this works nicely. However I agree, waaaay too colourful. I think they should make a few colour themes and let users choose, other than inverting the colours to black and neon hell. Overall I give it a B minus. But it was definitely time for a new coat of paint. Favourite feature thus far [besides the control panel screen] is putting a panorama as your lock screen picture. You can look around it like a 3D tour or a google map. SO FUN. So useless but just fucking neat. |

Who cares if design cues appear stolen, this could be said about web design trends, or anything in Design for that matter. Someone did it first, others follow suit, so I guess they stole it.
In the end is it a quality product? and who did it the best? That should be all that matters. Clearly Jobs may have been a fan of Braun's vintage designs and was heavily inspired, pretty genius. I'm glad the iPhones don't look ghetto like 99% of the other poorly designed phones out there, just my opinion. I usually don't buy a piece of technology based on how original it is lol. Who made the first smartphone with touchscreen and icon layout like you see on majority of smartphones these days? serious question.. |
