President Barack Obama has never commented publicly on the targeted drone strike that accidentally killed Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, a 16-year-old American boy and the son of al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki. But a new book released Tuesday reveals Obama was "surprised and upset and wanted an explanation" when he learned of Abdulrahman al-Awlaki's October 2011 death, which one former White House official calls "a mistake, a bad mistake."
It was a "targeted drone strike that ACCIDENTALLY" killed the sixteen year old kid.

Where do you get this information from? I had never given it any thought until your post; I'm former military and so far as I am concerned we couldn't spend enough on our military.

However, a quick search tells me defense spending peaked in 2010:

That chart is misleading
military spending is down because we are pulling troops finally
defense spending is up when you look at the expansion of the NSA and HLS

I watched a peace on a guy that was having a hard time as a drone pilot because of all the confirmed kills he had. Then I remembered how some guy wanted to give medals to drone pilots.
Then I remembered everything that people complained about with Bush and that's why they voted for Obama, we are just finding out he is far worse and everything we hated in Bush

Fox Fake news is a 24/7 smearfest of lies, distortions, and all out scams. The engine that drives that vile channel to prop up those bottle blonde bimbos and airhead fear mongers is pure 100 percent unadulterated racism and fear of anyone with a culture outside of their evangelical jesus-brainwash hate-cult.

Bob Beckel

Juan Williams still sub's for O'reilly

I didn't know about the morning show, fox has Megan Kelly, Very Hot. My GF likes the Today show in the morning.
I might also point out that Fox uses a lot of poll data from MSNBC, which I find kinda funny.

I like Alan Colmes, but I see liberals on O'reilly almost nightly giving their point of view which makes for a good debate.

How is this misleading? Robbie said that defense spending is up under Obama, which is not true. For the first two years, 2008-2010, defense spending did in fact go up under Obama. Then from 2010 - 2013 defense spending went down.

Homeland security is only a very small amount in the budget, in fact about 1/20th of defense spending. On top of that, Homeland Security spending is down nearly 2% for the 2013 budget.

House votes to limit Homeland Security?s gun ammunition buys

DHS has been at the heart of criticism from lawmakers, Second Amendment groups, and others who say the agency has been buying up massive ? and unnecessary ? amounts of ammunition and that has led to depleted stocks in stores, as well as inflated prices.

A DHS procurement officer said in April to a House subcommittee that the department was planning to buy 750 million rounds in the next five years.

It's not that they're bimbos...they're just puppets for Murdoch and Ailes. Even Sean Hannity and Bill O Reilly can't really believe the shit that comes out of their mouths. They HAVE to be characters made up by FOX news.

Megyn Kelly is very smart, very hot and I think comes across very well as well.

Any news channel is going to have it's idiots. There are a couple on every channel I don't like listening too. Usually those idiots don't last very long

Robbie 06-14-2013 10:04 AM

I've said it over and over...the news shows (the ones that aren't opinion) are good on all the channels.

I prefer watching the morning lineup on MSNBC because they spend more time covering real news as opposed to "cute" gimmicky shit (like animals or cooking or bands) I really like Chuck Todds's show.

The late afternoon news rundowns: I like Shepard Smith on Fox and Wolf Blitzer on CNN

At night? It's hard to watch any of them.

On CNN Piers Morgan is just horrible.

On Fox...OReilly drives me nuts and Hannity is on a mission from "God" apparently lol
But then Greta Van Susteren's show is pretty good and doesn't ever get into "left" vs "right" politics

The MSNBC lineup is pure biased shit. Not one show on the air that does any news at night.

Seems to me that some people take OReilly and Hannity and paint the whole FNC with one big brush.
MSNBC is far, far worse. Their evenings have ZERO debate...it's all the liberal host with liberal guests.

Even OReilly and Hannity have liberals on...which as I said earlier: That makes for great television. Which is why those two shows are the highest rated of all news shows.

As for the idiot who said "don't discuss politics with Robbie"
Hey dipshit: I'm not talking about "politics". YOU are. I'm talking about television shows.

Let me analogize this for you:
We are basically watching a pro wrestling match.
YOU are excitedly babbling about whether CM Punk did some great "wrestling" moves against HHH.
I, on the other hand am watching the story they are telling in the ring and commenting on whether or not it is compelling to the crowd and putting asses in the seats.

BIG difference.

Smarten up and stop being a mark for the performers and see it as a business designed to get ratings. Then you won't look like such a rube with all of this hatred being spewed all the time.

nico-t 06-14-2013 12:31 PM

American news stations make me cringe - all of them. They blow everything out of proportion and dissect every fart by anyone when it suits their political agenda. 24 hour brainwashing machine, at your service.

I saw a few minutes of CNN the other day and the pompous way how these kind of "news" stations present things that don't matter at all was literally tiring and irritating me. I guess it's the american way of bringing news, it's exhausting, they ram petty shit through the tv screen to make it way more important than it is, to push viewers into a direction. I can't imagine watching crap like that voluntarily, so I quickly changed the channel - before my IQ would drop.

Apart from the blatant propaganda, it's also a proven fact that when you watch too much news it enhances a negative state of mind.

MSNBC, Rachel Maddow, Ed Shultz and the rest are more than fair to Republicans. The republicans just keep stepping in their own shit, and msnbc reports it. Fox News is not "news" - they are nothing more than a right-wing cheerleader who do nothing but report 'publicans in a bright and shining light no matter what stupid shit they try to do.

Sums it up perfectly. MSNBC would have nothing to talk about if Republicans weren't such assholes trying to do crappy things like block people from voting, cancel bills that could help someone less fortunate or stop unchecked gun sales at a gun show, war mongering, etc. It just seems like every day there's some new shitty thing that they've said or done -- and its not made up by MSNBC -- these are all checkable facts.

they won't get their act together. They're not getting in the WHite House again unless they steal it somehow, like they did in 2000. The GOP needs to become something different if they're going to survive, and it probably means some of them just dying off so some fresh views can take over. Views that aren't liberal, but not so bigoted, angry and ignorant.

Guns
Buying guns at a gun show, no the fast and furious crowd would hate if the supply to the Mexican drug cartel stopped, the one that Attorney General Eric Holder became the first sitting member of the Cabinet of the United States to be held in contempt of Congress on June 28, 2012. Earlier that month, President Obama had invoked executive privilege for the first time in his presidency over the same documents.

War Mongering
We're sending drones to Pakistan and Yemen, are we at war with those countries?

Blocking bills
Remember the Sequester?

Blocking people from voting
Remember the NEW Black Panthers?

Well, in very simple terms, you can never have "too much" when it comes to ammo.

Do the math. How many airports does DHS have armed guards at? 700? 7000? How many firing ranges does DHS run - 10, 100, 1000? How many rounds do they go through a day? Then factor in ports they have to protect, the police force - seems they investigate cyber crimes and what not as well - plus they have officers abroad - and of course Customs and the Border Patrol. DHS also includes the Federal Protective Service. The Federal Protective Service has fifteen thousand armed guards alone.

DHS has 240k employees - most of which are armed. They need ammo.

This is fucking hilarious, its a glaring example showing that nobody believes the shit that they are saying on Fox News.

Look at the Donahue clip too, the things he is saying are basically the talking points of the new "Libertarian" republicans, but when Bush was in office they were treasonous.

Fox news is a propaganda machine because its a great business model, pure and simple.

The great thing about their business model is they can change their "opinions" at any point and their viewers won't even question it. Iraq war used to be a great thing now every republican says "I was for Afghanistan but against Iraq".... Bullshit. NSA surveillance used to a great tool to stop "terrorists" now its big brother.... Bullshit.

MSNBC is the exact same but they just can't rile up their viewers to care as much. When the next Republican president wins MSNBC's ratings will go up. And MSNBC will rail against the NSA and Fox will defend it and the dance will continue.

Fact is the majority of people already have their mind made up and search for news that will validate their own views of the world.

So keep the Conservative vs Liberal fights going because its great business for Fox News, both political parties and corporate lobbyists.

You do realize that every news organization: CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox, MSNBC, and CNN all allowed themselves to be used by the Bush administration during the Iraq "war"

Instead of sending in their own reporters to make unbiased reporting (like in Vietnam)...they ALL agreed to have their reporters "embedded" with the troops.

And because of that...they all became buddies with the military troops they were "embedded" with.
And EVERY news channel was giving glowing reports of how we were doing such a great and noble thing there and how heroic our soldiers were, etc.

The entire country was caught up in it at that moment with very, very few exceptions.

So to try and say it's just Fox news is bullshit. It was EVERYBODY.

And all the Democrats in Congress voted for that war as well and all were proclaiming that "yes" Iraq had "weapons of mass destruction"

Here is Hillary Clinton saying it (people sure seem to have a short memory around here)

I never said that it was just fox news. But if you think Fox News wasn't spewing propaganda at the time to support an invasion then you and I live in two different realities.

My point is that all of this 24 hour news is political propaganda. If Obama started a war now MSNBC would be beating the drum just as hard as fox news was for Bush. Fox News needs Obama just like batman needed the joker. MSNBC is hurting because its hard to rail against the man when you love the man, soon as a republican is president then they will have their villain and ratings will go back up.

To act as if Fox or MSNBC are about independent journalism and not a soap box for the political parties is not accepting reality.

I think that both channels DO some good news reporting on their news shows as I said earlier.

But their big ratings grabbers (at least for Fox because MSNBC is in the toilet with ratings) are their OPINION shows.

Fox chooses to suck up to the religious right with their choice of hosts for their opinion shows.
But they have the better ratings because at least they bring on liberals to argue the points with the hosts. That makes great television (if you're into politics).

MSNBC on the other hand just have liberal hosts with liberal "guests" and their is no debate. So it's boring (who wants to watch a bunch of people smirking and agreeing with each other?)

That's all I'm saying.

As far as the Iraq war goes...hell yes Fox was in total agreement with the Iraq war, just like every other news organization was.
We were all bamboozled.

The news media should NEVER just go along with the govt.
Never.

Their job as a free press is to investigate and question the govt. every step of the way.

The fact is...they haven't done their jobs since 9-11

Yeah, the liberal news organizations all are critical and questioning Bush...NOW. You know 5 years after he's gone. And in the meantime they aren't much interested in what the Obama administration is doing.

I suppose they will wonder about it 5 years after Obama is gone too. :(

It's pathetic.

FNC, CNN, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, NBC, all should be ashamed.

And no, I'm not talking about their opinion shows like Maddow, OReilly, Schulz, Sharpton, Hannity, etc.
We all know that they are biased and trying for ratings.

I'm talking about when they do their "real" news shows and they don't do any investigative journalism.

You keep saying that, but it simply isn't true...

We live in a world of propaganda now.
There IS no news anymore. Well, no more journalists.

Ah well, moving on, watch out for the shit as it hits the fan, don't want no shit on me, that's the American ethos.

Bah! I wish it was 1989 again.

LOL, Richard, let's do the math, first, the 750 million was for future purchases

http://www.forbes.com/sites/ralphben...-conversation/

Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America.
