By the way if you want to print "Paypal" only to countries that supports it, you can do something like this in php: $epoch_paypal_countries = array('AD', 'AT', 'BE', 'CY', 'DK', 'FI', 'FR', 'DE', 'GI', 'LU', 'GR', 'GL', 'IE', 'IS', 'IM', 'IL', 'IT', 'LI', 'MT', 'MC', 'NL', 'NO', 'PT', 'RO', 'SM', 'SI', 'ES', 'SE', 'CH', 'TR', 'GB', 'VA'); $showpaypal = in_array($_SERVER[GEOIP_COUNTRY_CODE], $epoch_paypal_countries); <? if ($showpaypal) { ?> PayPal click here <? } ?> Note that Vatican shows paypal. |
So where's the dumbass now?

So as a US company it's only my European customers that can use PayPal OR beinga US company does this mean NONE of my european customers can use PayPal?
|
Some of us remember when Paypal came to the adult market and gave us the thumbs up... And we invested time and money into putting them up, only to have them pull out six months later.

That's why they only accept it trough a trusted party now (Epoch). Epoch takes care of the compliance etc. so it won't be the wild west like it was last time. |

CCBill is very meticulous & cautious in their business dealings, this is how they've sustained unprecedented longevity in the adult industry. I'm somewhat taken back that an Epoch end user broke the story about PayPal seemingly beta testing use with Epoch, and that it seems as though Epoch was forced to issue emails the following day notifying people of of the current "beta testing" of PayPal in EU. . |

In regards to compliance (what sites/content they will process for) Epoch is stricter than CCBILL, so maybe that's why PayPal chose to work with Epoch first, but that's just a guess. Maybe they just had the right contacts. I'm sure this is something that has been in the works for months, if not years. |

In april 2013 I saw some local porn company comming out of no where and processing their adult sites with paypal... I emailed them (paypal) to figure how come it was possible and here's the reply I got from them:
Dear XXXXXX XXXXXXX, Thank you for contacting PayPal's Brand Risk Management department with your question regarding adult sites. Each adult website is reviewed by our department for compliance with our Acceptable Use Policy. If you would like to receive payments for an adult site please forward the URL so we can provide accurate feedback. If you have additional questions please contact [email protected]. Facebook will allow porn next. It's all about the surveillance.

It's hard to click "like" buttons while fapping... maybe if they integrate google glass somehow... hmmm

Epoch's compliant department is very stringent, probably the most strict out of all the payment facilitators. Not sure if that had anything to do with how they pulled this off, though. Paypal's come A LONG way in terms of fraud prevention and they still bill for gambling sites where its legal, so my guess is Paypal processing for adult is going to slowly roll out to the US too. |

No offense to Epoch, or to the very original poster, but I personally would prefer to get direct approval from paypal and manage my own compliance with their rules than be lumped in with all of Epoch's customers and (in my opinion more extreme niches) and wait until one of them does something that paypal (or epoch) deem so bad they close down the whole show. |
I also wonder if PayPal would be acceptable for DVDs sold on a website, or other 'tangible goods' that need to be shipped (toys, panties, etc).

The only thing they didn't allow was adult paysite subscriptions. |

It drives me nuts whenever I see people say "paypal doesn't allow adult". Yes they do. They just don't allow digitally delivered adult goods. I've been selling my content on ebay for over 2yrs now, using Paypal as my payment processor. Both ebay and paypal are aware of this and haven't done a thing. The only thing that happened to me is when I first started, I skirted ebay's rules and was selling downloadable zip files. Made a small killing for over 6 months before they finally took action. (Ebay, not Paypal).. and they didn't shut me down.. They simply deleted my listings and told me I had to sell my items as physical DVD's and CD's. Yes.. it sucks, since I had to raise my prices significantly to cover shipping, and my sales dropped tremendously as a result. Buyers don't want this stuff sent to their home! I should also note that I went from paying ebay approximately $300/mo in fees to around $5/mo. I understand $300/mo is a drop in the bucket.. but even so.. If I were ebay, I would have turned the other cheek. |
But can someone answer me this.. I don't see what all the excitement is about Epoch landing Paypal.. Probably the only reason I like Paypal as an option is to avoid Visa/MC fees. If you have to go through epoch to use paypal, you're still going to have to pay those fees.
To me, if Paypal decided to allow us to process directly through Paypal, that would be exciting. |
