Maybe I should ask Heidy to confirm this with Brent? :1orglaugh

That's the problem with Paypal.. "Certain sexually oriented materials or services", and they never actually define it in their TOS.

However, I know they are aware that I'm selling physical DVD's, and they've also confirmed via email that's acceptable.

There are a lot of people that are not comfortable joining porn sites with their CC (because they don't trust porn sites with their CC data), but would not mind joining if they could do it trough PayPal (because they trust PayPal and they know their card info won't be in the hand of some porn site operator). I think adult sites can get quite some extra sales with PayPal.

Of course it would be better if you could accept PayPal directly without an extra party (Epoch) involved, but since PayPal doesn't allow that, this is the only solution. It's worth paying a fee to be able to make extra sales that you previously could not make.

They said "obscene".
So what about softcore, art sites? Can anyone with erotica site try mailing paypal.

In the UK in the 60s and 70s, "obscene" was defined as whatever gave the judge an erection.

This make sense. So are paypal compliance guys using same method.

I can't answer that. All I can say is they are aware of the items I'm selling (most of it fairly tame compared to what else is out there, but still fucking and sucking nonetheless), and they've said that as long as it's not downloadable or electronically delivered it's fine.

It looks like they reverted back to the standard join forms and not the ones that you can select paypal as a payment option.

Crazy Enough 06-16-2013 01:22 AM

PayPal accepts adult? Yes, but only Erotica books without images. They don't allow images or videos.

I have to say that I've sent an email to a big paysite network asking to pay their membership via PayPal because I had some cash standing there, and they have sent their "corporate PayPal", so I was able to sign up on a porn site paying via PayPal.

I guess PayPal is a manual option only for those who ask for it. After all, they will never know, right?

I'm in Poland and now I see PayPal option available for any country I choose in the dropdown field (checking via the StrugglingBabes.com join form).

Looks like Epoch made the PayPal selection available based on GeoIP for the actual user location as opposed to the manual country selection that was active before.

To me, if Paypal decided to allow us to process directly through Paypal, that would be exciting.

This......

We ran a test selling credits through PayPal and saw a big increase in sales. Until they shut us down of course but that was calculated since I wanted to see the demand.

Really if PayPal starts allowing this all there will be a new stream of income coming in from people who want to stay more anonymous

Exciting news IMO :2 cents:

Did you read the thread at all?....

donb 06-16-2013 11:36 AM

I run a non-nude fetish site so it is not exactly relevant, but in 2009 Paypal confirmed by email they will process payments for my subscriptions and DVDs.

Chosen 06-16-2013 12:03 PM

I wonder why we are still having old epoch form on our paysites, without paypal option for europe.
European company btw.

Do you have cross sells on your join forms? Most of the alternate payment solution, including PayPal probably don't support cross sells.

Perhaps to avoid the trick of USA/Canada people (or even site owner force parameter) switching to an Euro country to have Usa/Canada people pay with paypal. They still can do it with an euro proxy, but less practical.

NaughtyRob 06-16-2013 08:08 PM

I'll make a non-nude site and see what they say. If they say it's ok I'll process with PayPal for sure.

Here's the site that got approved and that I included the link in my initial contact to paypal to ask them how come they were allowed to do it:

http://www.chez-alyson.tv/abonnement...alyson-tv.html

It's in french so it's not a language barrier and this site got approved by paypal so....!

I see a cock in join form next to PayPal logo. So what's going on?

Go figure lol

I'm also wondering: if somebody join thru paypal via Epoch does it's the same discount rate and does the holdback apply? Otherwise I guess processing with paypal (if you can get in somehow) is a much better deal...

naughtylaura 06-18-2013 08:18 AM

We are now approved for paypal too :) As far as I'm aware, its for EU epoch clients, and shows up for EU customers :)

Define "approved".As showed in epoch form,or direct deal with paypal ?

scarlettcontent 07-03-2013 01:03 AM

FWI, this Alyson is operating from Quebec, not from France.

I'm sure that some people out there believe that a "porn site operator" gets their card info.

But it's not true. I've never seen a persons credit card number ever.

Visa and MasterCard only allow banks to process a credit card. Not a person. And especially not a porn guy. lol

But since you even seem to think that...then yes, it's obvious that a lot of people probably mistakenly thing that we can see their credit card numbers. Which is why you are right...PayPal is trusted more by people (even though they will shut down your account and take your money if you piss them off lol)

In fact those who got such an info, in past, banged cards in bad way, actually substantiating the fear for giving card to adult sites :(

Kafka 07-03-2013 04:15 PM

Why not sending money to your private PayPal account and after
receiving the money sending him the password.
ok, there is a delay but the surfer can pay via PayPal.

Works only if you are the site owner of course.

MatureKing 10-14-2014 08:17 AM

So accept

Naughty 10-14-2014 11:57 AM

Paypalis like Google. What Brent or Gary might accept on a tuesday, Rose or Mary will decline on thursday and send to John, who will shut your account on Friday because he wants to bang Rose on Saturday.

Shitty big corporations and they flakey rules.

Rochard 10-14-2014 03:00 PM

Years ago Paypal used to come to the shows, and wanted us to set up with them. This was before anyone had heard of them. Then one day they just dropped adult.

Very interesting indeed.

StinkyPink 02-08-2015 09:48 AM

The deal is that paypal does NOT accept payment for adult sites, however... they do allow epoch to accept the payment, with paypal hidden behind the curtain so to speak. So yes... if you are an epoch client.

Now close this thread. :2 cents:

Epoch has mitigated the risks for paypal, and is reaping the rewards.

Spunky 02-08-2015 11:30 PM

Rather would keep a separate account, due to past experience

Wasn't it right around the time they got bought out by Ebay or shortly thereafter? I recall this, that they were wanting our business for several years, then they got bigger and more widely known, and the second they thought they were "big enough" they immediately wanted to disassociate themselves from anything adult.

If I were the type that had sensitive feelings I'd have called them a pack of snivelling assholes for that.

This small gesture of a move back toward the riches of adult via Epoch isn't about goodwill of any kind, it's about money. Nice to see though.

I think I'll still live in fear of having any of my paying clients using an adult-related email to send payment though. Better to continue airing on the side of caution with this company.

Corrent. I start seeing USA people pay with paypal via Epoch.
