MANY interns for jobs do it only for the experience, and college credits, etc... A LOT in broadcasting (radio & tv) for sure do... {been there, done that!} |
Mind-boggling conclusions in this thread.
- Company offers an internship program = Company is broke - Vague ad posted on Craigslist with horrible grammar = Must be from said Company - Vague ad posted on Craigslist with horrible grammar pt. 2 = MUST be true, it's on the internet +1 from a previous post: - Same address as another company = "Beyond a shadow of a doubt" proof the companies are related |

A company only employing interns must be one scary place to work at :)

This just cracks me the fuckup.
Just the thought of some poor sucker busting his ass all day, running around in his shit car picking up lube, paper towels and Thai food...holding the C light under some dangling scrotum all day under hot lights...cleaning up all the cummy baby wipes. Just free grunt labor...get rid of em when they start asking for pay - get a new intern - what a great scam - it will work too because there are thousands of horny douche bags on CL dying to hang out on a porn set and get a real life glimpse of sleeze...Great scheme for legal human slavery! |

even IF they can't afford to pay anymore, the top is still making money you can only dream of.

I'd like to see Mike South do a story on the organised racketeering and theft by the companies behind any of the following sites:
Rapidgator keep2share.cc NetLoad or maybe one in his own backyard UltraMegabit These sites deliberately foster relationships with piracy forums and uploaders of huge amounts of porn, paying bounties above and beyond the normal uploader rates for latest releases. This involves the organised use of stolen credit card numbers to fraudulently gain memberships on sites and in some cases tapping into human resources within the production and distribution channels of porn companies themselves to get hold of not yet released product. Millions of dollars is lost to this industry every month as a result of these organised criminal conspiracies. Why is it that those commentating on this industry keep missing this giant elephant in the room while rehashing tired old stories that often end up lacking in any merit ? |
^^ this ^^.

internships are very typical. We constantly have a list of students trying to get one here. Currently we have two, one in HR and one in engineering. They would probably pay us for the experience they are getting here for their resume.
|
I have worked for free for quite a few people over the years, and would have no problem doing so again. Work for free for the right people and the knowledge, experience, and people you can meet will far outweigh any paycheck you could possibly receive.
|
We do a bunch of internships in Canada, in LA I am actually not sure.
I agree with Minte, people can learn a lot at certain companies. I am sure in your case Minte, it is especially huge for them, especially someone that later wants to study engineering or is in the middle of studying it. Lots to learn from experience there. |

If I had to go to the outside for a consultant, this project probably wouldn't have happened this year. |
Minte, that's a lot of trust you are putting into a student. But I am sure he will never forget the generosity of yours to let him try doing it all on his own.
I understand its cheaper, and since you said it likely would not have been done this year, I guess its a win-win somewhat. But regardless, he might break things or just mess stuff up, and you have to restart, so I do believe it does show a lot of trust. Kudos. |
On top of the list when choosing a college for our daughter
The INTERNSHIP opportunities the school had in her chosen field of study, her first internship she did for a summer turned into a 3 year job, and continued contract work while she is away at college. |
