I was at TES in Sitges, Spain in Feb. and our wifi at the hotel was very spotty. Kira was with me and her iphone seemed to have very little issue while my droid was barely getting signal. We are both on Verizon. Others with iphones seemed much less affected than we on the droids as well.

This pissed me off to no end because when I got my droid I told Verizon I needed a phone that always worked when I travel out of the country. I did say I wanted a full keyboard but the priority was a phone that got wifi everywhere I traveled. When I got home I called Verizon furious that I had the issue and demanded to know why (i'm a woman, give me a break). The guy looked and looked and finally said "oh, the iphone 4s and 5 can search through several frequencies or channels and find the best signal and the droid only has 1 option"

WTF?....... They tell me this now? So I'm due for an upgrade this month and going to see if the Galaxy can match that feature in the iphone. if not, I have no choice but iphone. I have to be able to get on the web from my phone. the end :upsidedow

one can always get good coverage around here. don't you just hate it when you have a problem with something and you need official help but there is a language barrier because nowadays what is happening is there are cheaper employees overseas in call centres in countries where english is not their first language?

just get a huawei ascend w1, and the w2 is in development still so look out for that too, that will be running windows 8. don't listen to that guy above, it isn't ugly, it is actually rather practical.

I have a brand new iPad.. and frankly... I still prefer using my two year old touchpad?

But I do love my ipod. Thinking about getting a macbook air for some light editing.

I've had the iphone for years, and decided to switch to the Samsung galaxy s3. The screen was beautiful, very clear, bright images, better than iphone. Larger screen and it played flash which is fantastic since my site has flash videos and a flash chat room.
But I fucking hated the usability of it. Anytime I wanted to do something it required extra steps and I found it to be a pain. and then it started fucking up and throwing errors (Google's shitty programming?) so I returned it and got an iphone 4s.
Love my 4s.
I wish the screen were bigger and it played flash, but otherwise its perfect for me

no need to type or swype, the new Samsung galaxy S4 has a great voice typing..voice is one of the options with swype.

I put my new S4 beside my friends iphone 5...no comparison...the S4

that's the phone I want to switch to. do you happen to know if it can search various wifi connections like the iphone does? I need to find out the technical term for this feature but I know for sure my droid has only 1 place to look.

venus 08-02-2013 11:32 AM

don't know, but it appears to be the best android phone on the market and I ran a benchmark test on it and it blows everything else away

Well said. Win 8 phones are underrated on this forum. They are VERY smooth. Only minus is that they do not have as many apps as others, but not everybody cares about number of apps as long as there are most popular ones available.

I think if you have other apple devices the iPhone wins hands down because of the way everything syncs together and is extremely user friendly.
It is not just bout the hardware or the os as the App Store vs android market is far suoerior as well. I ink the new ios7 has some great changes to the usability and speed as well.

ya you will love the new stuff they are adding to IOS7...since most of it was borrowed from android :)

I put my S4 beside my sister in laws iphone5s, took pictures, how the screen looked..tried out siri....iphone is boring it looks just like my ipad...you cant put a weather widget or a travel widget on the home screen, you cant do anything except move around the icons to different pages... there may be 10 million apps on the apple store...but seriously...I only have about 8 apps on my phone...why do I need 10 million,...

I have a ipad and although I like it, I'd hate to have to use itunes all the time to sync it like I have to with the ipad.

Android has a phone for everyone's taste and has competition with many manufactures to keep them innovative.

iphone just finally got a 4" model that was out on android like 3 years ago.

Android rocks

Maqua 08-04-2013 03:01 AM

Hearing lots of good for Android :) May have to switch hehe

Lykos 08-04-2013 04:38 AM

I think android but i will stay with Iphone :winkwink:

venus 08-04-2013 11:59 AM

ANdroid is not for everyone...some people like simple and boring...some like to customize their phone, make it theirs... you can go into a place where most people have androids, and you wont find 2 that look the same...go into starbucks, take everyones iphone..lay them on a table and tell people to grab their phones...they will have trouble trying to find theirs...they all look exactly the same

Every iPhone we've ever had in our house has broken sooner or later. To date we have never broken any other phone.

No more iPhones for us.

For customization, Android can't be beat.

For ease of use and stability, Apple can't be beat.

Hardware is tough. Apple makes a great product and there are a couple of nice Android phones (the majority being plastic crap).

Thats exactly how I see it too.

But I think thats pretty much how everyone sees it at well.

Had Android for a while loved it! So good on so may levels.

Had Iphone 4s for the last 2 1/2 . Like it a lot. But what I absolutely love about it, is that it works. No software conflicts, no issues what so ever.

2nd thing I love and the reason for switching over was the integration, with my Work, iMac, 17 inch, Mac Book Pro, Mac Air and iPad.

I got my notes, contacts, work and projects all synced up. Cant tell you how many times i have started a project on one and finished on another. That has been priceless for me, especially with my hectic schedule.

Also having and ethernet 5 bay 10 Tara Drobo, with its own IP address also makes this super easy. Can access, upload, download any and all files anytime.

If I did run everything Mac, I would have stayed Android. Was the best phone I had at the time. Had no other reason to switch.

So I think Android is probable the best for people with out Macs.

Just Dave

well i actually used to buy samsung, i have had two samsung phones, but now its either huawei or maybe nokia, my very first.

with windows 8 on huawei as well that has me sold, and not asking for much either, plus then with that phone i can network out of the house.

the samsung galaxy pocket is okay, but somebody i think it was this friend of mine spilt a glass of water on it and rendered it useless. :upsidedow
