I also have one of these which I know is Asian, they don't tell you where its made but swear its not China. It's too inexpensive for Japan so I guess that leaves Korea and Indonesia.

I also have a couple Chinese Fender acoustics that I hate. A classical and a resonator. They both work fine but I just don't like them, not even sure why. They don't speak to me except to say "you should have spent more money if you wanted a real guitar". I bought them thinking I fix them up somehow but instead they are just sitting there.

hah, was looking at the u2, i went off on a danelectro tangent due to my obsession with silvertone amplifiers. that u2 is pretty sweet right? it's the one with lipstick p-ups?

yep its got a "humbucker" which I think is 2 lipsticks wired together in the tail and a single in the neck position, you can get a lot of great sounds out of it, all the way from blues to metal. Probably not the best for metal, but I don't play metal so no problem there. Metal players who've gotten ahold of it loved it though.

BTW if you like silvertone keep an eye out I have a couple old silvertone guitars I re-did. As soon as I can get a pic that does them justice I'll post.

heck yeah. lolz. i've checked out *some* (a bunch) of silvertone gits but they made tons and tons over the years so i have no idea really and the prices on them range from $100 to a couple grand. i hve checked out a teisco or 2, i like the sounds from that, and they are supposed to be pretty darn well made

i've been meaning to snoop around about those vintage silvertone bass guitars too.

I had a nice dinner Richard, did you?

I was thinking about making a few investments before the end of the year, it's either that or send a lot of cash to the IRS. Would you want to stay on if I buy the program you work for?

Oh man; that would be some poetic justice there. Like when I bought that dumbshit Son of Sam's domains out from under him, only better. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Well you may be aware that Silvertone is just a brand that Sears slapped on instruments for its catalog, actual manufacturers were a variety including Danelectro, Harmony and Kay, all back in the day when they were made in the US.

Is that how poor, uneducated bottom feeders see it?
