Had my third world outsourcing experience years back.
The prices were 1200 - 1600 USD a month (Phillipines) depending on the role, one of the staff - the designer was skilled and easy to work with, however after a month he was replaced by somebody else by the supervisor and claimed as "sick and not returning". The rest of the people were either bad or really bad, one couldn't figure out if they do it on purpose (not respecting written instructions, unable to doublecheck their work etc.) or are just really this different in their work approach. Also the "dedicated 8 hours a day" was questionable, especially with so much work consisting of fixing or re-doing stuff, the amount of holidays was stunning too. We had to claim extra hours and soon after terminate the contract. Apart form that one exception it was bad or very bad, wouldn't go for another round. Not discriminating, but the only way to consider this again would be to get a personal recommendation from somebody I trust. But then again that would have to be somebody with skills to offer and a decent knowledge of English, which doesn't put him into the $400 a month bracket. |
