I don't need outsourcing but it's pretty simple to make sure you get what you pay for.... just ask to use teamviewer (or remote desktop) or at least have the person on skype and require to send you a msg every time he (she) quit the computer! Plain and simple....

Why not look for a real job with benefits if you have these qualifications?

Question though. Is this "work" you guys do and experience you have include web design or just techy crap? I have hired a few times off of a Freelance site that were Indian guys and while they could build techy stuff they couldn't do design with crayolas and an etch-a-sketch if their life depended on it. But one of them sadly did know how to hack my WP thru my FTP login. :( Still not sure how the hell that works .

I have experience with Indian worker too. Every now and then they have these reason:

Power Interruption
Mouse Broken
Keyboard Broken
Internet Connection bad
Spill water in keyboard
Rat eat the wire of my computer

I hope these guys selling their skills here as a VA is not the same as them.

You get what you pay for.. if you expect stellar results from cheap, you're dreaming.

It's not always the case.
I know a few guys that had amazing luck with outsourcing for cheap.
It's a lot of luck and hard work to find the right person.
But, life in those countries are very cheap, so you can get a good full time worker for cheap, it's really realistic.

Expensive it's not always good.
I paid over 1000$ for webdesign and i paid 100$ , you can look at our sites, and i am not sure you will know which one is expensive and which one are cheap :)

But you are partially right , you need luck and you really need to know what you're buying.

Well, i slice my sites professionally, so even a cheap site will come out over the 400$ always. Some of the sites are just old, this is why it's looks cheap to you.

I'm a freelancer based in the Philippines and I sure hope that people here on gfy wouldn't think that $400 is a huge amount for us because it's NOT, also a lot of stuffs here are way more expensive than in the US
