The Party you LOVE is the republican party. The RACISTS I'm talking about is the Confederate-flag waving person and the Tea-Party that gave speeches at the same rally without denouncing him.

That's it, that's all. For fuck sakes..!

As for democrats receiving 90% of the black vote, do you really blame black people for this? Republicans are so pissed off because they think their message is not being received that they rely on voter suppression, especially black voter suppression, and gerrymandering instead of trying to actually do something that the American people, which includes Black and Brown people not just old white people, want.

I call Bull Shit
You were going on about the republican party calling them Racist, PERIOD
History of Democrats on civil rights terrible.

And for the FUCKING RECORD, quit putting words in my mouth ASSHOLE. I don't give a shit about either party
The GOP has changed from where Ronald Reagan left it with no real leadership.
The Democrats have had more power than the GOP since Jan 2007 , they are really fucking things up!

You think "rebel flag" is what they called it when it was created?

Just wondering, how old were you when Reagan was president?

Upon Closer Inspection

Quote:

Veterans groups came to Washington to protest the closing of Veterans memorials.

Their peaceful apolitical protest was taken over by Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party.

The organizers of the Veterans protest issued this statement:

Quote:
The political agenda put forth by a local organizer in Washington DC was not in alignment with our message. We feel disheartened that some would seek to hijack the narrative for political gain. The core principle is about all Americans honoring Veterans in a peaceful and apolitical manner.
It turns out that the Confederate flag protestor, Michael Ashmore, claims to be a discharged disabled vet suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as a result of a tour in Afghanistan, and that he drove 24 hours from Texas, to participate in the protest because he was angry that he had not received his disability check.

https://scontent-b-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/...91495273_n.jpg

Anyway, here is an un-edited letter from Michael Ashmore explaining his waving of the Confederate battle flag at the White House:

Quote:

I want people to know what kind of person I am and maybe it will stop all the negative talk about me, probably not but I will try. I grew up in a small town in Texas, Hooks TX. My town consist of many different races (Black, white, Hispanic, Asian) I am also friends with some of them.

I grew up in a poor home, dad worked many jobs to make ends meet. He was a great dad. He died August 10th 2013 of cancer. I didn’t really know my mom until I was about 19. We are talking now and I am happy to know her.

I know things were rough back then and I don’t blame my mom at all, and I will always love her. I have 4 siblings. 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. I don’t know them that well. I am trying to get to know my sister Michelle. We have been talking for the past 4 years. And she has helped me a lot.

I joined the marine core when I was 19 years old. I served almost 4 years and I served in 1 tour over in Afghanistan. I was there for 8 months as a rifleman (0311). I was honorably discharged early to take care of my father. Did I mention he was a great man.

I now travel around the country for my job. I work 12 hour days 6 days a week and 8 hours on Sunday, Most of the time. I don’t get much time to go home. Witch is fine seeing as I am young and love this country and now I can see it all through my travels. I work with some great guys. They give me support and compassion when needed. I couldn’t ask for any better people to work with or for.

Now for the comments about me being a racist and waving the confederate flag in front of the White House were the first Black President and First Lady live. For most people the flag represents hate and racism. But not for all. We as the people some times are so close minded to what we believe, we don’t look at what others might believe.

For me the flag doesn’t represent hate, racism, or diversity. It represents we’re I come from, It represents the love I have for my country, family, and friends. In a post I was reading earlier today a man named Chuck Jines said in his article that ” I was ignorant to wave the confederate flag at the White House were the first Black President and First Lady live”. Because it represented hate and racism. In his eyes maybe and maybe a lot of others. But to me, Michael Ashmore it represents none of the above.

I do not disagree that the civil war was fought over slavery. It was. But if you think that is all it was about then you are blind. Ignorance is bliss. And to be close minded is just the way most people are. I can not change that. I can only except it and keep moving forward in my life. I know who I am, and I am proud of it. And I will stand proud in any town and hold the hands of all my brothers and sister that I fought for.

To not except me for what you think I stand for ( and not the real me) is ignorance. So I pray for you and all the other people in this great country. So maybe one day we will look at each other through different eyes. And not judge each other. Because that’s for God to do. God bless.

Just because he's a disabled vet doesn't mean he's not an asshole. He's "abled" enough to wave that flag around. And that second pic says it all.

dyna mo 10-16-2013 05:01 PM

well, he certainly cleared up my wondering about the significance of the 2 flags, thx for posting that adg.

whatever checks and balances there are for returning soldiers to be classified as disabled due to ptsd, well, he's been classified as disabled due to ptsd. i feel for that guy.

I 100% guarantee that ex-Marine had ill intentions when he carried that flag -- to the FUCKING WHITE HOUSE where a black president resides. I can smell it like a fart in a car.

Funny thing is....all of you people up in arms about the Confederate flag and the "black" president...

His family is from Africa. They weren't even in the U.S. when the civil war happened. His family were never slaves. (well, they probably were in Africa...but we don't talk about that kind of thing)

Obama literally has no "skin in the game" when it comes to slavery in the U.S. :1orglaugh

Of course its patriotic and of course people should be allowed to protest. What is completely wrong and ridiculous though is for people to continue to say Obama is from Kenya, or to still question his birth certificate, and to call for him to be impeached. This gets on Fox news, then it becomes a theme, then senators actually start believing it.

No, I didn't. I asked why someone like you, a republican, would think it was ok for Tea partiers like Cruz and Palin to participate in a rally with someone waiving a confederate (possibly racist) in front of the white house, without saying anything about it, which was quite different from what Sennator McCain did when he said NO MAM to the woman who called Obama an Arab.

it was called several things, Rebel flag was one of them, also refered to as The Confederate Flag, the Dixie Flag, the Southern Cross and the Stars and Bars.

The flag is part of our history and should not be pushed away in some dark corner because people want to forget it. It means different things to different people. If you don't like it, don't fly it.

I got out of the Iran Crisis because of Reagan while serving aboard a Submarine off the coast of Iran.

My daughter served aboard the USS Ronald Reagan, biggest war ship on the planet

Because I bash on the current administration , your limited thinking says I'm a republican. I'm not. Quit calling me that. You're just being an asshole reaching for that in anything you post towards me!

Why is it, that everything is wrong because of Fox news and the Tea Party when these people are not in charge? That's why I call you a moron because the Democrats have more power, things are fucked up and they have held most of the power since January 2007!

All you do is bash the GOP, you think it's all their fault. They have very little power with a democratic Senate and President.

Can I help it that we have a president that's still blaming Bush for a mess that after 5 years is still a mess? Every speech is used to put down the GOP, maybe if he tried to get along with them, something would get done?

You've always got a contrarian, twisted answer to the things that are obvious to most people. It's a talent you have that you should be aware of. You'd do well in politics.

Barack Obama is black. What does it matter where his blackness originates from? And what does his "skin in the game" have to do with the intentions of some guy with a confederate flag who just sees a black man running his country? He just sees a black guy. Your logic makes no sense.

Have you ever been on the right side of an argument? If someone said it was bad to stomp kittens into a jelly-like pulp, you'd probably play devil's advocate for kitten stompers -- just because being on the opposing side of everything is fun for you. I guess that's ok, if that's your thing.

They don't have a lot of power, but just enough to to knock some teeth out of the gears.

I'm wondering about the 100 who voted no tonight ...what is the scenario that will make them vote to open the government back up(and not default), considering the fact their fantasy scenario has been playing out for the last 3 weeks? It's scary that they were ready to pull the pin on the grenade. They did pull the pin, but the establishment conservatives saved them from themselves.

Vendzilla. Come on man, calm down.

My original post said this:

"Republicans: You guys need to do something about these Tea Party crazies."

The Tea Party makes republicans look bad because it seems that many republicans associate with them. Not all Tea Party people are crazy, but Larry Klayman, the guy in the video, says "Obama bows down to Ala" and said "drop the Quran".

In post #20, I said "The fact that he's waving a confederate flag in front of the White House is bad enough, but he's also waving it in front of a BLACK man and his family, and that black man happens to be President. It's disrespectful. "

In the same post, I commented that Palin and Cruz made their red-meat speeches at the same rally and I wondered why they didn't follow McCains bit of coolness.

In post 28, you posted an image of George Wallace and a confederate flag. What's your point? George Wallace was a democrat governor from Alabama and a racist who loved segregation, and said that Kennedy wanted to "surrender" to Martin Luther King. Are you trying to make my point for me?

In post 34 I commented on BADDOG who dismissed me. I then asked the question, to BADDOG, "So, you're ok with the party you love being associated with racists?"

Then in post 47 is when you saw my post to Baddog and you called me an idiot, and went on about the republican party.

I didn't say that republicans were racists. I asked Baddog, not you, if he was ok with the republican party being associated with racists.

That's it, thats all. You are completely bent out of shape for no reason at all.

Sorry if I made a mistake and called you a Republican. By your reply (post 71 I think) I thought you were one. But at least I didn't call you an asshole.

What grenade? You mean the Debt Ceiling? The LAW that says Congress can NOT spend any more money? The one that gets broken several times every year?

Is that the "Grenade"?

Are you taking into account that the govt. spent several BILLIONS of dollars TODAY. And yesterday, and the day before, and again tomorrow, and again, and again...

And a LOT of that money is spent on our military all over the world.
And billions more are wasted on fraud and unnecessary expenditures (even Pres. Obama has said that many times).

Let me educate you.

Here are the facts from U.S. Treasury Dept.:
Interest Expense Fiscal Year 2013
September $19,843,542,012.01
August $25,487,831,947.93
July $25,076,777,459.95
June $93,031,790,187.97
May $24,378,480,861.09
April $35,951,751,963.63
March $23,472,400,737.30
February $16,901,310,565.17
January $17,816,590,831.57
December $95,736,594,801.52
November $25,068,968,472.99
October $12,922,741,407.27
Fiscal Year Total $415,688,781,248.40

Now...the U.S. govt spends 10.46 BILLION dollars PER DAY.
So to service the debt (NOT default)...in October, they would have to not spend money for a day and a half.

That the U.S. is going to default is a lie by money hungry politicians.

winter_ 10-17-2013 12:57 AM

i know enough about this business and enough about this community to know already here is rather left-wing.

like l-pink said this is nothing unusual. even new zealander's too protest against united states foreign policy most of the time right here in auckland. i spoke to an african black who speaks english up here a few nights ago, he was an admitted anti-american. said to me he would quite happily strap bombs to himself and blow himself up inside the united states consulate.
