I'll recommend one more, it being a Saturday and I'm just sitting here amusing myself. :D

We all know (or should know) 1979's The Warriors, yes? If not, I also highly recommend it as well. But the one I'm going for here is also from 1979, a similar movie (but set in the 50's) called The Wanderers.

Quite simply put it's a fucking awesome movie. Both are.

The whole "Revenge" trilogy is good but "Oldboy" is the best of the three imo.

Although I still love "Oldboy" over the years I've grown fonder of "Sympathy for Mr Vengeance".

You should also check out J.S.A.: Joint Security Area if you enjoy Chan-wook Park's stuff.

Another oldie but goodie is "Shallow Grave".

A few people mentioned Hobo With a Shotgun.

If you like that, check out Manborg. It's from Astron 6, the same group who made Hobo.

Last Seduction. This woman fucks over every man she fucks. "Let's play rape," ain't play, he pays.

First movie without big marketing that comes to my mind is Chloe, with Leam Neeson

What Dreams May Come... Quietly very intense tear jerker if you have a wife that you really love.

Incendies
In My Father's Den

I'm reasonably sure these are obscure enough that most here won't recognize them but I was surprised by both.

Of the ones mentioned here I've probably watched Casino near a dozen times. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Ides of March, Children of Men, Glen Garry Glen Ross, Run Lola Run, Jacob's Ladder, Akira, Get Carter, American Beauty, Life Is Beautiful were all kind of big movies in their own way. If you haven't seen them you're not going to go too wrong... Akira, Glen Garry and Get Carter are basically classics.
I'd suggest going to http://www.imdb.com/chart/top and just start from the top down watching the ones you haven't seen. Some I think suffer a little from hagiography or aren't to modern tastes but are worth watching purely to understand the cultural impact they continue to have eg Citizen Kane which I don't really need to ever see again and don't think should have ever been voted best movie ever made but whatever.

"Holy Mountain" Alejandro Jodorowsky - also "Santa Sangre" or "El Topo" - but you have to be open to the surreal...

Hallucinatory, surreal, trippy in the first degree... this is what happens when you are mentored by Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel...
