I'm always a sucker buying new toys constantly. The best that I can think of recently is the samsung galaxy camera. It is unbelievable for what I use it for (family activities and trips). For size, price, quality, it is amazing. I'm very happy with it

MrGusMuller 11-03-2013 02:03 AM

Now that it's November I can start looking for another guitar to add to my collection. :)

I went a bit overboard in Sept & Oct. with the Gibson custom LP_R9 & ES335_59 reissue

vdbucks 11-03-2013 05:24 AM

So far this year I bought a Galasxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Asus Transformer Infinity, a home gym set, some xbox games, a new computer, an ipad mini, a new car, a bunch of software, and some other shit I can't really remember.

Congrats on a really nice guitar. I have gotten to be a big fan of the antique white.
side bar..I found a couple of those pawnshop strat/jags and am going to order one today as soon as I decide on the color. Pink or black.

holy moly is that a pawn shop offset jag with p-90s? hah, wow, dang! big fan of the jaguar. was just reading on the history of it, well, the fender offset, and the strat, i didn't realize that the jaguar was fender's premier guitar, if it weren't for the likes of jimi and eric, the jaguar could have emerged as *the* fender guitar.

i don't know if that's accurate but it was the opinion of the writer.

and i have to add, my pawn shop 72 is an insane blast to play. maybe because i've played it more than any other but it's a mind reader! but i can play it much more effortlessly than any other guitar i've spent serious time on, in fact, i'm gonna go do my morning blues scale on it right now, i'm think key a#!

:1orglaugh

oh, and i vote for the pink! :1orglaugh

oh, question, the strat coming in has the satin nitrocellulose finish on the body, should i

1. let it get*relic'ed*

2. be extra careful to not let it get damaged (it's 11 years old and been kept under the bed, it's 9.8 out of 10).

3. polish the satin finish to gloss, hardening the nitro so it's not so fragile.

I would definitely go #2.. I have some relic'ed guitars. But those are just a result of age and a lot of playing. Today I am extra careful when I play. No rings, no big belt buckles and I play a lot more attention to where I am. I have slammed guitars into stacks over the years on stage and it always made my stomach turn. The other thing I quit doing, is just setting them up against something. If I'm not playing it, it's in the stand.

I was looking at the Gibson SGJ and LPJ but am steering away cause of the nitro wearing off and getting grimy. Is it really a common thing to happen? Also, my loft gets kind of humid in summer.. should I worry?

that's what i was figurin too. i def wanted a strat with nitro, but it's fragile, if a pristine paint is important. i was reading peeps actually get abrasions on their nitro-finished guitars from the sponge on the guitar stand. heck, my snark came with a warning it may damage nitro.

nevertheless, nitro was on the short list of must-have features. and that maple fingerboard! yessssssssssssssssssssss

vdbucks 11-03-2013 12:05 PM

Oh, forgot I also picked up a Nikon D5100 plus a 70-300mm lense.

What kind of storage chassis did you use?

They are still pretty tough. I have some guitars that are over 50 years old and they don't have the shine that they once did, but the nitro finish isn't that fragile. The humidity is more of an issue. Solid body guitars aren't as delicate as acoustics but they really should be kept in as a humidity free zone as you can find. Mine are in an air conditioned loft and even so my classical guitars can get nearly unplayable in the summers.

Get a dehumidifier.

My new router and modem just came in. Sort of a toy/work toy. I'm hoping the new ones will be faster than my old single unit.

I use supermicro http://www.supermicro.com/products/s...47R-E1R36N.cfm with a supermicro jbod http://www.supermicro.com/products/c...E26-RJBOD1.cfm attached to it.

Toss in some 4tb drives and you are set.
