And you can not drive 10 cars. 2-3, max 4 maybe.

If you go for 10, you get something that would hold value, like old muscle or something. He got 10 new and regular which all lose value and on top of that you can not drive them all.

Cars in general are a horrible investment. But in the case of MarcD or any collector, it's not about the money wasted.

I don't think I'll ever buy a new car again. It's more fun buying something older, restoring it, and then having fun with it. I have about $7k invested into my old truck, it's like brand new, runs like a champ, and I'm not afraid to take it four wheeling at the lake - much more fun than any sports car I've owned.

But then again, either would look great if I had one of my own!! :1orglaugh

We ordered the white convertible first, then changed to the yellow coupe. The white does look good, though. Was my second favorite color.

you should get vanity tags = "run-ya* . is it manual or auto paddle shifter ????

I like the way the yellow and black look together. It does draw attention, though. That'll pass once they start getting more on the road. I think they just pushed the 3000th one off the assembly line, so still not a lot out there.

It's an automatic with the paddle shifters. We actually had an issue with our order. I posted about it in this post: http://www.gfy.com/showpost.php?p=19...&postcount=103

And, thanks for the comment on my wife. You can promote her site here: ExtremeBank.com </shameless plug> :thumbsup

Cars are very much a personal choice, love both prefer the white. But envious no matter the colour :2 cents:

EDIT :

There is actually a raptor getting around my way - talk about rare to ever see anything like that here, has some serious road presence amongst our almost miniature cars in comparison!

My point is that owning 10 new "regular" cars does not make much sense.
To take more extreme example, its like owning 10 new laptop computers - no additional value, you can't fully use them all and no collection value. And hassle to manage.

You can not fully enjoy all of those cars, 30 days/month, 3 day/each car. Thats if you need to drive every day. Now imagine you have one or two favorite cars, you drive them more often. Even less days for the rest. It gets to the point where there may be 1 or 0 days that you drive certain cars. And it takes time to manage them in various forms (could be as simple as battery going low because of not driving a car for some time etc).

And on top of that they just depreciate in value as they are regular cars.

On top of that - its still just regular cars, so its less of a collection and more of waste of space in your garage.

Now if they were oldtimers, that would be totally different story.

The thing is, those cars are a drop in the ocean when it comes to his own personal wealth... So the reality is, it does not matter at all.

Yes, just curious whats the point of having some cars that you won't even drive for more than 1 day a month while at the same time said car has no collection value.
Of course to each his own :2 cents:

I like the Raptor. I've never been much of a truck guy, but I like the way it looks and drives. They're proud of them, though... we couldn't find a single dealership that would budge on the price.

This is very true, but with that said variety is the spice of life.

You mentioned having multiple laptops.... I have multiple laptops, same brand, different sizes. Depends on what I plan on using them for. For long trips where I'll be in one location for a long time, I'll take my big laptop. If I am moving around every other day, I'll take a smaller one.

It's similar with cars. I have two four wheel drives, but they serve difference purposes - one is for hauling my kid, the other for hauling stuff that doesn't fit into my Jeep. I guess I could haul my kid in the truck, but it's not good for long distances - it's jacked up a bit and not the best drive. At the same time, I wish I had a sports car too from time to time.

It's all about taste, and if you can afford it.... Go for it.

I've had a lot of different cars over the years, including other Jeeps, but since moving down to the Keys in 1997, a Jeep is all I really need. Rarely need to drive faster than 55 MPH and usually more like 25 since my island is a National Key Deer Refuge and many of the roads are gravel. Here are a few shots of Matilda, my 1986 CJ-7 (flipped open soft top, top off, and tonneau/windjammer top) .

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4399ddd7.jpg

I just noticed that no one else has mentioned naming their vehicle. Maybe it's just a "Jeep Thing"...I named her Matilda because she waltzes down trails and over rocks. So...has anyone else ever named their vehicle? Any reason for the name?

Nice Jeep really.

I name all of my cars (and my computers too). My Jeep Cherokee is "Goose" because it's grey, and when I say "grey" I think of Grey Goose. Now it's been shortened to "Goose", sort of like in Top Gun. My wife's SUV is a pearl white so we call it Pearl, and my truck is white also so we call it Sugar (name by my daughter).

LOL! Not the first time I've heard that, for sure. I actually have quite enjoyed it -- rides pretty nice, has been reliable, and is comfortable/practical for my purposes.

I'm on the minority who actually like the styling, though.

I just went and looked at the exact same car. Very impressed and cannot believe the price. I am not sure how they make any money off them considering they are going up against cars $30-50+k more while still getting 20+mpg in a sports car.

How do you like yours so far?

I love it so far. It's a blast to drive... get one, you'll love it.

I think ours was about $68k, but they start at $52k or so... great price!

Do you run into any issues with those mud tires? I had BFG Mud terrains on my last truck and while they were great at first I ended up with horrible road noise and balancing issues after a while. I guess maybe I wasn't rotating them enough.

That's the reason I just went with All Terrains on my Jeep. The mud tires look so much better though.

Choopa Phil 06-05-2014 07:30 AM

Quick pick from yesterday when I had my car corner balanced. For those of you who are not familiar with this process they basically put the car on scales, 1 scale under each wheel. The spring perches on the coil overs are then adjusted, to get an equal 50/50 weight distribution diagonally across the chassis. When a cars diag. corner weight isnt equal, handling will be biased/unbalanced. Best suspension mod I have done besides the coil overs themselves! Next up is 20MM spacers, adjustable front and rear sway bars, and sway bar end links. Going to take to the twisties like a beast!
