Would be surprised if there was any level of organisation behind this coin. Most of the alt coins are just a search & replace, change some basic parameters, compile, release... basically just a clone with minor changes, all done by a semi-anonymous person on a web board.
I've compiled 30+ shitcoin clients over the past couple of months, so I can usually get them going.
You never know, apecoin could be one of the shitcoins that breaks out. Easy as to generate blocks now, but if it becomes 10 or 100 times harder the value of your existing holdings will go up. Or it could tank completely and just die.
