You're confusing the deficit with the debt. And your example makes zero sense. Thats not what it means when they say the deficit has been cut.

There is a deficit every fiscal year. Cutting the deficit means the deficit this fiscal year is less then the deficit last year. The deficit for fiscal year 2013 (ending Sept 30th) was $680B. The deficit in fiscal year 2009 was $1.4 Trillion.

This $1.4T number is included in the numbers that the GOP like to talk about (as does your CBS News link) when discussing the debt increase under Obama. However the 2009 fiscal year technically started Oct 1st 2008 and was part of the budget proposed by Bush in June of 2008. It included all of the previous administration economic policies.

No, my contention is that she unintentionally sabotaged the campaign by being her mentally imbalanced self. I don't recall how many times the McCain campaign had to release statements disavowing statements she made as unofficial. It didn't help matters much that she was eerily silent at rallies while people shouted Obama was a hahahahahaha. Then there was all that ranting about Obama being a socialist when she helped give out rebate checks to Alaskans to compensate for high gas prices, the funds of which came from her helping to impose higher taxes on oil companies in the state.

And it is my contention that McCain's advisors sabotaged his campaign by giving him nothing to work with other than negative attacks. Other than the prospect of a healthcare voucher, it was nothing but a warparth of stale sound bytes.

The fact the Romney and Ryan ran a far superior campaign and still lost to Obama who had less votes than in the first election pretty much is a testament as to how imbecilic and ineffective Palin and McCain were as both individuals and a team.

Let us all be thankful that trainwreck was derailed before it reached the station.

Here's a question for you. Why would I inherit the business and not my mother. She is alive and well. She and my father were only married to each other from the time they were 18 up until his death. And they were very happily married.

I wish I would've inherited a pile of cash when he passed. It would've made thing a lot easier than it was. But again, my mother received that insurance money.

You've obviously found one of the numerous news articles about the company, you know that in the year of his death we had just built a new 30,000 sq ft plant which was about half filled.

Now scroll ahead 16 years. My manufacturing business has grown to 3 separate companies in a 502,000 Sq ft building sitting on 50 acres of land. My tire company alone does more sales in a week than we did in a year in the late 90's. It's significantly larger than the plastics/metals company. And the good news, is we invested heavily in new equipment in 2013. The tire company will grow at least 40% this year. We are hiring 50more employees in the first quarter.

If you think that hasn't taken a lot of years of hardwork and dedication you would again be wrong.

There are a lot of car threads, vacation threads, jumbo tv threads, guitar threads, etc.. that get posted here that I have nothing to do with.

This company was a team effort. Him and I started together,when I finished my tour in the army. That article was wrong btw. He completely retired in 1985. He owned a 37' tartan sailboat and a very nice RV which him and my mother traveled in most of the year. He actually had his heart attack when they were away.

Of course it was his success. We are a C corp. He was president, I was VP and general manager. I would never consider disrespecting the man. But this company was a joint success. It wouldn't have turned into anything without him doing his job and me doing mine. I didn't get out of school one day and take control. I was there on day one and I will be involved until my final day.

If you want to say I inherited my success, your welcome to say or think whatever you want. However, it's not true.

I've heard this said before from wiser people than me and again recently that this place used to be somewhere that we would applaud others who have had success--and now we do the opposite.

Maybe instead of doubting them and questioning their abilities we should be learning from them instead?

Clearly that is not Minte. Good on him that if he has grown the family business, through loans, M&A, and leveraging company assets. However, if he is trying to say he is a self-made man, that simply is not true.

I have total respect for a guy like Shap who really did build a company from the ground up, and instead of constantly boasting about his wealth, he starts adult industry related threads and offers mentoring and guidance to others in the business, inspiring people, and sharing his success.

Of course, Shap sold his company for millions, while self-proclaimed business genius Minte traded his 15 year old adult company for a $1,500 guitar. :1orglaugh

Since he died, we have been able to turn it from a small metal shop to a much larger company. I have respect for Shap too, but lets not forget Mrs. Shap. Didn't she offer anything to the business? I believe she was a big part of their/his success.

The landscape here certainly has changed.. Some of those classic bling threads.. MarcD's cars, Ron Caldwells watches, I can't remember the guys name anymore but it was a cribs thread. I think he was in servers and from Atlanta. Incredible property. Even Brad. He had some classic bling threads. There aren't a lot of us left Ron. Too bad. I know that some of those threads inspired me to work smarter.

GFY is a microcosm of society now. That renegade let's kick ass, take names and make money mentality is on hiatus.

That's because of the drop in money. A lot of these guys are employees and/or barely making it with their own businesses. Piracy has just decimated the landscape around here.

So yeah, 99% of the people on GFY went from being successful and full of optimism to barely making it. So their viewpoint and perspective is totally different now.
