It's my favorite Kubrick film. I've seen it several times; you can say I'm fascinated by it.

JerseyPuma 02-12-2014 07:59 PM

this guy is an idiot and so is anyone who agrees with him.

dyna mo 02-12-2014 08:01 PM

The scorsese film that finally made me realize he's overrated was hugo. ugh.

poncabare 02-12-2014 08:11 PM

Why isn't woody Allen on this list?

Out of those, I like Spielberg and Scorsese the most. But I admit most of Scorsese movies are crap.

Michael Bay just blows shit up, don't get me wrong I love it, his movies are great but its more about the action, especially when he teams up with Jerry Bruckheimer.

Very fukkin lame to badmouth him. It's a shame he didn't make as good movies as PF later.. I am not saying all post-PF Tarantino movies are bad, but they are not as good as fans expect them to be... probably this is why he is on the list.. :P

Pulp Fiction has a large group following like a cult. :upsidedow

Dunno if I would call them crap but they do all follow pretty much a similar storyline, most of his movies - especially the gangsta ones or anything involving a
major B-a-l-l-a. :pimp:pimp:pimp
Nevertheless, they are still entertaining to watch.

HerPimp 02-13-2014 07:21 AM

Jaws, E.T., Close Encounters, Indiana Jones - Steven Spielberg gets it done.

What a funny place to have a discussion on movies on a porn site forum where movies shot on I phones with no lighting editing etc rule , and contributors think that Star Wars is art.

Whoever wrote this should have his writing license revoked and get the "poser of the week" award.

If being discrespectful to authors, whose works in many cases helped to define the pop culture as we know it, is deemed as a way to look "cool", then there's something very, fundamentally wrong.

Of course the OP would never bash these directors if they weren't vastly successful in the first place, maybe there's a little detail he forgot about - what made them succesful are actual people coming to see their movies.

My life would not be the same without Indiana Jones (as a kid), Pulp Fiction (growing up) or Taxi Driver (in my personal Top 5) to name just a few - these are movies that are transcoded into my DNA by now, I bet I'm not the only one.

Everyone is free to have their preferences, however, there should be some common sense applied before expressing them in public.

LOL Did you ever read The Shining? Even Stephen King thought Kubrick's movie version sucked balls.

Why is movies topic such a funny thing? What about politics, economy then? Those are far more popular on gfy, and far more difficult than movies.

candyflip 02-13-2014 02:38 PM

PTA and Tarantino are my current favorites, and have been for quite some time.

I don't claim to be an expert on the topic, but I am a Director's Guild apprentice.

So true, and I would take anything written here with a big pinch of salt.

As usual, your act is looking every bit as tired as a three day old cadaver.

How about you give it a long overdue rest and go edit one of your cinematic masterpieces or something.

Mutt 02-13-2014 07:20 PM

Thanks for the lulz, people who couldn't even write and/or direct an episode of Full House ripping apart the handful of directors at the very top of the film industry. :1orglaugh

I think it's fair to discuss why somebody might be overrated but there's little to no real film criticism in this thread.

There's a reason we're in the porn industry people! Bunch of mouth breathers :1orglaugh

I have to remember that every time I read something like this that the author is just one of tens of thousands of basement dwelling mouth breathers spitting out their self-hatred induced bile at being ineffectual, impotent losers no one gives a shit about.
This comment-bait is lifted from a crappy movie review blog with a handful of updates that died half a decade ago.

ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz

Every time a thread about movies pops up the majority of members of GFY post some of the most idiotic garbage I've ever read. "Yes lets bash people who are popular and say they're bad because dat's the cool thing to do or bash movies too complicated for us to understand because we're idiots!"

Case in point....

You're clueless. I know very little about music so I don't enter threads about musicians arguing with people over things I don't know anything about so why do you idiots with bad taste in film try to argue with people who clearly understand the medium far more than you do?

The Shining is one of the greatest movies of all time and that goes for pretty much all his movies.

Stanley Kubrick is definitely the best of them all. I can watch all his movies over and over again. Even his lesser known films like Lolita are mesmerizing. :thumbsup

Grab yourself some win, some toke and enjoy a good night with a Kubrick classic.

Exactly. Never seen a movie of his I liked. Seems like you have to be a neurotic jew from New York to appreciate his work or something.
