patience young grasshopper

It hit 935 (jan 6 @ coinbase) and hasn't gone over 900 since. Between 450-550 is where I'd buy for short term gains. Anything under 650 should be profitable long term. But, obviously you'd make more money if you can call the bottom.

The cool thing about bitcoin is that bad news, such as the transaction malleability (non)issue, or the silk road 2.0 hack, will always drive the BTC price down due to the knee jerk reaction of a million idiots. Fortunately there's another million and a half people looking for a bargain buy-in price, and that will drive the price right back up. It may crash for a day, or a week, or even a month, but there's a damn good chance it will rise again.

Pretty much assholes at MtGox trying not to take the heat for the way their system integrates with Bitcoin, so they throw bitcoin under the bus hard. However there is a problem that needs patching so the exploit against MtGox and others can't be used again. The way other integrate with the bitcoin system needs to be worked out.

FYI: the easiest way to buy BTC with $$ (assuming you mean Visa, MC, etc) is with coin.mx

mayabong 02-13-2014 06:56 PM

Love it when the newbies panic. Never thought I'd see these prices again.

Yea virwox is a long drawn out process and ends up costing too much. Once you're verified at coin.mx it's easy to buy BTC with your CC with one click.

The thing is, you just buy now. You will never guess the bottom price before it starts back up, so just buy now, because it is going back up sooner or later. But if you are interested, just watch and wait. Then the next time it swings down, jump in with both feet. You may think the ground floor was a year ago, but we are still on the ground floor right now. If 600, 800 or 900 spook you, you have to to get over that and buy it now. The gravy train is leaving the station.

I'd say that's pretty accurate... Besides, if buying and immediately losing $100 in value scares you, stay far away from bitcoin. It's not for you.

420 02-13-2014 08:01 PM

I'm getting impatient. Mtgox is at $375 and bitstamp barely moves :(

I started buying at 900. It's been going down 100 everytime I buy a Bitcoin. Buying another one right now so it is bound to go down another 100. LOL

Because I'm not an idiot who does buy and hold? The money is made on the volatility. Anyone who sees BTC at $400,000 is either an idiot or a troll.
