“We cannot agree with (Garaufis) that the record revealed ‘copious evidence’ of the officials’ intent to discriminate,” the appeals panel plainly stated.

Then, the court took the extraordinary step of barring Garaufis from presiding over a trial that may well be the next step in the proceedings.

While offering courteous boilerplate that “Garaufis is an entirely fair-minded jurist,” the court slammed him for damning city evidence as “either incredible or inapposite” — off point — without taking the testimony of a single witness.

“We think a reasonable observer would have substantial doubts” about Garaufis’ impartiality, the court concluded. Indeed.

So after all the hype and BS the appeals court said the judge was not impartial and biased.

Right after I got out of the Army in 93, I took the exam for the Los Angeles Fire Dept. I passed with flying colors. Second highest score of the group. During the individual interview and evaluation, I was then told that there was no point in going to the fire academy, because after I was done I would wait for year and years, maybe forever, to be hired to a fire company. The reason? I was white and I was male. There were quotas, and there were no slots available for my color and gender combination.

Same reason i am not a cop. Scored very high on oral interviews and told to wait for a call that will never come. My minority and female fellow applicants that scored much lower went straight into background checks.

Not sure that I understand your response. I was simply relating a story of my own experience in the FD hiring process and the fact that my race and gender were specifically quoted as the reasons why I would not get hired for a job that is run by the government.
