Glad to see you opting for the more humane choice :)

I used to dislike cats, most of all my life, but once I rescued 2 little homeless cats I've learned that cats really are beautiful little creatures :)

John-ACWM 03-24-2014 08:17 AM

If you have the space and money, you could build a garage. No more problems with cats, rain or anything it might damage your car.

This is perfect and cheap. Only problem is that in my case, I have concrete all over.

NatalieMojoHost 03-24-2014 11:45 AM

I know what you gotta do... buy a bottle of valerian root extract... spill it as far away from your house as you can, but make sure the wind is blowing from that direction... repeat every 3-5 days.

Or, man, just get a dog :)

What's the problem? mount it on a block of wood

AshleyMobile 03-24-2014 01:24 PM

If they are pissing all over it's because they are marking their territory. I'm not sure what the catch and release program is in your area, but the best thing to do would be to catch as many as you can with humane traps, bring them to a local vet that does C&R, have them neutered/spayed and then release them back into another area.

This stops them from breeding and adding more to the overpopulation, stops them from wanting to mark all over your property, relocates them and remains humane.

As far as smells go, they dislike citrus and vinegar so you could try putting tinfoil on the roof of your car (they hate that) and then coating it in those cents. If you have an outlet you could try a scat mat, its a tiny mat that "zaps" animals. Typically it's used for cats that jump on counters or dogs trying to get into certain doorways, but I think it could help your situation.

Either way, definitely look into a local catch and release program. The people that volunteer there will also be able to help you catch them and provide you with traps.

OK, tonight , they have ham on menu. I' am trying to improve trap, leaving one slice of ham in corner and another one attached to a spike that they will hopefully press. I've just noticed that I am low on gas so If I catch her, we will have to drive to a gas station, together.

Cat are now spending more time trying to figure out what is going on.

I can't believe the box trap doesn't work. I catch the neighbours' cats all the time by accident when I have it out trying to catch other pests like skunks and raccoons that like to make their home under my deck. If I catch a skunk i just shoot the bastard right through the cage with a shotgun.

I'm devastated. :(

Seriously though when you end up with a whole family of skunks burrowing holes under your front step, you can't get rid of them fast enough. I tried flooding their hole but they would just keep coming back.

I like having the neighbour's cats around as they keep the field mice levels down.

editeur 07-13-2014 08:15 AM

Anyone offered yet to spray the backyard with valerian root extract?

femdomdestiny 02-18-2016 06:03 PM

OK ,shit just got real.

Anyway, this morning I was entering my car and just when I did it and closed door something started moving behind me.

I've turned around that there were some cat that somehow entered inside. She was obviously sleeping until that moment. I was also not awake completely because I was in hurry. So we were equal.

She looked me straight in the eyes and start panicking. That means some serious shit like screaming and running fast around the car. What I did first was to cover my face until I was sure she is not attacking.

Cat was stupid enough not to remember how she got inside. This means that she were jumping on every window and trying to go out at any cost. After a minute or so, she figured out that best for her is to go back and just stand there. It was raining outside but I've opened her both doors so she can get da fuck out. Nothing. Once I was out, she finally figured out where to run and hit me with her head while running. (not sure why)

Now, there are three problems coming from this. First one is that she pissed all over car. Everything is fucked up and stinky. I've figured it out after initial panic. You all know how bad is that. I don't even know where she pissed because it seems it happened last night immediately when cat entered her new toilet. What kind of stupid animal piss where she is sleeping? I can't drive like this so I've ordered cleaning service to come and try to clean that. Unfortunately it is raining so I will have to wait because I won't sit in that car to drive it to service.

I've figured out how she got in. Soft top was slightly damaged in one corner. Cat found it and made a fucking hole and entered through that. Not big deal,I was planning to change roof, but after winter (February), not now.

Worst part is that I've called institution that should handle animals without owners (City Animal Hygiene service) and asked them to come and take some of those cats somehow. Operator in call center told me that they don't have solution for cats. WTF? On your site it is written that you are handling cats, dogs, everything except birds. She just told me that only thing they can do is to sterilize them. This is not my cat and I don't know her (at least until now).

This is old thread bump but when I saw date, I've figured out that I don't have a solution to this for years.

Need to go outside now to check is she back.

MakeMeGrrrrowl 02-18-2016 07:24 PM

If they sterilize the cats at least they wont keep breeding, and then maybe they wont mark up the territory.

That's pretty much what a catch and release program is. Catch, fix, and then release the cat back outside where it came from.

and the story was hysterical. I can imagine the panic from both you and cat inside the car. :1orglaugh

jscott 02-19-2016 12:28 AM

Cats, like all animals are survivors, she/he did what had to do to stay alive, is it cold as hell where you are now? They don't wanna fuck shit up, but if necessary to stay alive, have to do.

I think you did a good job, and are doing a good job calling animal "hygiene service" etc, is there any kind of animal rights/protection companies or reps in your area? Try them, tell them your story and maybe can get someone to come pick her/him up.

laragreen 02-19-2016 01:56 AM

Trapping a few of them and driving them away won't solve the problem :(... I found this: Friendly (but Effective) Cat Repellent maybe it helps. I'm sure a vet can give you better advice... Good luck!

Cold, but this February is incredibly warm. (10C or 40F). No reason to piss inside if she wants to survive. :1orglaugh

First of all. STOP SETTING TRAPS WITH FOOD! Food brings them in. You keep feeding then and they keep coming.

Second, you need to clean. Pee stink makes them pee even more. You need to clean the car with a special pee cleaner. You can get it in any pet store. The stink makes them come in, they already marked it as a territory. Again, clean properly your porch and places where they pee.

Sprays and shits won't keep them out of the garden. After one night the spray aroma is gone. You need to look into flowers, branches, trees that cats don't like. They also don't like certain grounds... like nut shells and stuff.

I am trying to somehow catch them and drive far away so I've bought human trap and until now, not a single cat was caught.

Don't ask me how..they manage to run away or even eat food inside without closing trap (last night they had potatoes and beef and when I went out to see what is going on, there was a cat sitting near trap with her stomach full..just looking at me).

So, while I am trying to catch them somehow, I should at least try to make them avoid my space an d I was thinking to put something that they don't like and can be outside.

So, questions is: Are there some smells they don't like ? :Oh crap

Sorry man, (if you are kidding), but if you are serious, then I have to say you're absolutely a lowlife.

Been through this myself on that past 2 months as my ex feed cats when she was staying in my house.

Trapped and fixed, vaccinated, and chipped 5 so far with one more to go. Created a cat shelter out of a mini shed that protects them from the rain which stopped some other bad behavior.

Spraying is over. 2 litters were aborted. The howling all night has end.

Problem now is they are very tame and some are very sweet and love attention.

Paid to have it done. Money well spent. Working on getting more done and figuring out what I will do to the asshole that sent them into the wild to begin with.

whew, relief here too, i always liked Roald, would've seen him in a different way if was that torturous to cats or any animals

.... water hose, sucks, but i guess it'll do :)

Roald, just so you know man, i grew up "hating cats" too, ppl say they are creepy, or they dont respond when you call them etc etc. if you really give them a chance tho, man, you can really fall in love

I saw 2 homeless cats 9 years ago, living under a car, both babies and both staying together, hungry (possible sisters i think), it was raining, etc, and i just couldnt leave them, or any animal that was in that position, so put in my backpack, and took them home. They are here with me now, 1 trying to lay on my laptop now as i'm typing and one sleeping in my lap. Fucking love these girls. I grew up 25 years "hating cats" (disliking them for sure), just goes to show, people can change, if you give them a chance :)

I was an urban guy, living in a flat, moving away from the capital city only 8 years ago.
As a bicycle freak kid myself I was afraid of dogs, and never really liked cats.

Now I have a dog which we all love with my wife and kids.. Now this dog is the son of an old dog who was living on the land for a decade when we started building our house on it. I decided to take the dog on my name when we move in. And when it happened, the old dog just gave birth to a puppy. When later we took this puppy to the doc for the usual initial stuff, the doc asked us (we were there with my kids) if we want to take a little orphan cat home. The kitten was red and supercute and although I was not into cats we took him home. The puppy and the kitten are both males, they grew up playing together. Meanwhile our dog lost her mother so these two wonderful creatures are living in our garden still.

I don't know where do you people find those cuddly cats. Those here are mad and angry. Constantly in some fear. But it is from the beginning when they are born. I've tried to play with some small ones and they started running immediately. They were so small that there is no chance that they had some bad experience.

1) removing cats to another location will not work, you will get new cats next year
2) deal with the ones you have by sterilizing them, they will piss less and defend territory against any new cats that are not sterilized...cats are territorial and will defend...
3) buy them a shelter better than your car, for example: Drvena ku?ica za ma?ke 40 x 30 x 40 cm | Kreveti i ku?ice za ma?ke, Oprema za ma?ke, Ma?ke | Petbox pet shop | Sve za ku?ne ljubimce

and put blankets inside, they will move to here and not your car.
4) do not take it personally, they pick your car because its warm when you get home, they need heat...consider a heated blanket inside the shelter you will not get one on your car 100%
5) feed them to gain their trust...forget tuna, cats do not eat tuna in corn oil...get whiskas or kittekat cans...gain their trust...

I"m glad for that man :) and since then, i even EVERY time i go outside my condo, with dog and cat food for the street animals. They all know me now, so when they see me they run and jump on me LOL. Sometimes i just walk around the neighborhoods drinking beers and feeding the strays, it's one of the very few good characteristics i may have :) just cant stop loving every single one of them!!!!!

And, love you man, i love fellow animal lovers, it shows a LOT , imo, about a person, their character, their education, etc. Those who waste meat, hunt for fun, etc yet still believe in GOD, how can they disrespect his creations? I could go on for hours on this topic lol, anyways, glad you also have good animal stories/experiences :thumbsup
