Glad to see you opting for the more humane choice :)
I used to dislike cats, most of all my life, but once I rescued 2 little homeless cats I've learned that cats really are beautiful little creatures :) |
If you have the space and money, you could build a garage. No more problems with cats, rain or anything it might damage your car.

I know what you gotta do... buy a bottle of valerian root extract... spill it as far away from your house as you can, but make sure the wind is blowing from that direction... repeat every 3-5 days.
Or, man, just get a dog :) |

What's the problem? mount it on a block of wood |
If they are pissing all over it's because they are marking their territory. I'm not sure what the catch and release program is in your area, but the best thing to do would be to catch as many as you can with humane traps, bring them to a local vet that does C&R, have them neutered/spayed and then release them back into another area.
This stops them from breeding and adding more to the overpopulation, stops them from wanting to mark all over your property, relocates them and remains humane. As far as smells go, they dislike citrus and vinegar so you could try putting tinfoil on the roof of your car (they hate that) and then coating it in those cents. If you have an outlet you could try a scat mat, its a tiny mat that "zaps" animals. Typically it's used for cats that jump on counters or dogs trying to get into certain doorways, but I think it could help your situation. Either way, definitely look into a local catch and release program. The people that volunteer there will also be able to help you catch them and provide you with traps. |

Well now we know you will never make it as an engineer. :thumbsup |
OK, tonight , they have ham on menu. I' am trying to improve trap, leaving one slice of ham in corner and another one attached to a spike that they will hopefully press. I've just noticed that I am low on gas so If I catch her, we will have to drive to a gas station, together.

Man it's just not that damn hard to catch a cat :1orglaugh

Non of them showed up last night so I've went to sleep and still no results :)

I cant stop laughing reading all the stupid comments..

OK, officially, these repellents don't work good.
Cat are now spending more time trying to figure out what is going on. Sometimes, they do it in pair.:error https://www.trixie.de/productimg/hu_23921.jpg https://www.trixie.de/productimg/hu_37010.jpg Strange. These are German products, and I was sure they have long history with different poison gases and stuff so I wasn't expecting this :1orglaugh |

I can't believe the box trap doesn't work. I catch the neighbours' cats all the time by accident when I have it out trying to catch other pests like skunks and raccoons that like to make their home under my deck. If I catch a skunk i just shoot the bastard right through the cage with a shotgun.

Seriously though when you end up with a whole family of skunks burrowing holes under your front step, you can't get rid of them fast enough. I tried flooding their hole but they would just keep coming back. I like having the neighbour's cats around as they keep the field mice levels down. |

Anyone offered yet to spray the backyard with valerian root extract?

OK ,shit just got real.
Anyway, this morning I was entering my car and just when I did it and closed door something started moving behind me. I've turned around that there were some cat that somehow entered inside. She was obviously sleeping until that moment. I was also not awake completely because I was in hurry. So we were equal. She looked me straight in the eyes and start panicking. That means some serious shit like screaming and running fast around the car. What I did first was to cover my face until I was sure she is not attacking. Cat was stupid enough not to remember how she got inside. This means that she were jumping on every window and trying to go out at any cost. After a minute or so, she figured out that best for her is to go back and just stand there. It was raining outside but I've opened her both doors so she can get da fuck out. Nothing. Once I was out, she finally figured out where to run and hit me with her head while running. (not sure why) Now, there are three problems coming from this. First one is that she pissed all over car. Everything is fucked up and stinky. I've figured it out after initial panic. You all know how bad is that. I don't even know where she pissed because it seems it happened last night immediately when cat entered her new toilet. What kind of stupid animal piss where she is sleeping? I can't drive like this so I've ordered cleaning service to come and try to clean that. Unfortunately it is raining so I will have to wait because I won't sit in that car to drive it to service. I've figured out how she got in. Soft top was slightly damaged in one corner. Cat found it and made a fucking hole and entered through that. Not big deal,I was planning to change roof, but after winter (February), not now. Worst part is that I've called institution that should handle animals without owners (City Animal Hygiene service) and asked them to come and take some of those cats somehow. Operator in call center told me that they don't have solution for cats. WTF? On your site it is written that you are handling cats, dogs, everything except birds. She just told me that only thing they can do is to sterilize them. This is not my cat and I don't know her (at least until now). This is old thread bump but when I saw date, I've figured out that I don't have a solution to this for years. Need to go outside now to check is she back. |
If they sterilize the cats at least they wont keep breeding, and then maybe they wont mark up the territory.
That's pretty much what a catch and release program is. Catch, fix, and then release the cat back outside where it came from. and the story was hysterical. I can imagine the panic from both you and cat inside the car. :1orglaugh |
Cats, like all animals are survivors, she/he did what had to do to stay alive, is it cold as hell where you are now? They don't wanna fuck shit up, but if necessary to stay alive, have to do.
I think you did a good job, and are doing a good job calling animal "hygiene service" etc, is there any kind of animal rights/protection companies or reps in your area? Try them, tell them your story and maybe can get someone to come pick her/him up. |
Trapping a few of them and driving them away won't solve the problem :(... I found this: Friendly (but Effective) Cat Repellent maybe it helps. I'm sure a vet can give you better advice... Good luck!

First of all. STOP SETTING TRAPS WITH FOOD! Food brings them in. You keep feeding then and they keep coming. Second, you need to clean. Pee stink makes them pee even more. You need to clean the car with a special pee cleaner. You can get it in any pet store. The stink makes them come in, they already marked it as a territory. Again, clean properly your porch and places where they pee. Sprays and shits won't keep them out of the garden. After one night the spray aroma is gone. You need to look into flowers, branches, trees that cats don't like. They also don't like certain grounds... like nut shells and stuff.
