Shap has capital and with that dishing money out of pocket knowing he's going to be pulling in $X per month from it is more what he seems to be looking for... I would guess. |

Another thing I'm not interested in is running a company from the get go and being responsible for all the paperwork, the legal, the accounting, basically the core infrastructure. Not many people realize just how much paperwork we had at Twistys. I think it was an entire truckload just of 2257 papers. Absolute insanity. To get back into adult I have to find something fun. Everything above is not fun. I think the best way to put is probably the way my wife has described the idea of having another child. She'd love to snap her fingers and have a 7 year old but doesn't have the energy or desire to go through pregnancy and baby phase again. You get to a certain age or certain point in life where the pregnancy and baby phase is something you've gladly done and enjoyed but have no desire to do it again. That's how I feel. |

Sounds like you want to be a corporate stepfather. Make a VC site offering to stepfather companies that are beyond the point of incubation. StepFarther.com ;)

Good luck on whatever you decide to do. I'm sure it will be a success.

The better question for you Shap is: what did you ENJOY doing before and want to do again? If the answer is 'nothing' then you're looking for something else in adult to do, and you know very well what those opportunities may be:
1. cams 2. dating 3. hosting, traffic, ad spots (infrastructure/B2B) Anything else you said you wouldn't want to do (shoot content, build a tube, run a paysite) or basically anything you did before and exceled at. So it sounds like you want something NEW but then ask yourself this: does the experience you had before with building/running Twistys/Sextube translate into something you've never done before? If not then what are the chances of succeeding with whatever it is you try that's "new"? In today's Adult climate there are very few options for million dollar ideas. It seems to me that you could do what you said JT did well - and then only participate in those aspects that you enjoy. The #1 problem you are going to have - and this is true of anyone who's a "self-made man" like you are - is switching to an Investor. Your instincts will be to run everything (even tho you said you don't want to do that). To avoid this pitfall the common wisdom is to invest in several projects at once (3-5), this way you cannot 'control' everything but merely invest and lend expertise when needed. Good luck with whatever you choose but try investing in some smaller projects first before going full-in with someone whose idea may cost six figures or more. |

:) As for consulting.... the total number of people that NEED help is always huge. The total number of those within that group which CAN be helped will be always astonishingly small. My view is that most people that are failing, are failing because of their personality, not a lack of information or expertise. If you laid out a clear business plan to go from zero to $100,000 a month based on a proven formula/system that's been done a 1000 times with similar results, next to no one can or will follow it and see those same results. Their personalities will take over... They will pick and choose what they like and don't like for whatever reason, they ultimately do things their own way, fail and then blame the system/plan and the "stupid asshole" that gave it to them. Ok, just for the sake of discussion, say a company of our size, with the brand loyalty we possess, the sales channels we are in on and offline, the acumen we have developed from years of experience, and the resources we sit on in terms of content, personnel, etc., our longevity, mainstream press accolades, etc., stepped up here, would that be worth consideration?
I get the feeling that you would be way more interested in something that harnesses mutually compatible skills and resources, not just shelling out to make someone else a ton of cash while you assume a ton of risk. I come from the standpoint where parties that are equal and self sufficient form much better relationships than deals where one side assumes all the work or pays all the burdens unequally. Thoughts? Just for the record, I am not fishing for a deal, but I am always open to discussion so use this post as a vehicle to provide more feedback and insight into what you are looking for. |

From my perspective, I think it will be fascinating to watch you build something from scratch or build an existing property even bigger then it is already, especially knowing that most of your previous success was built on many years of "old school" techniques.
I enjoy reading your "New Year" threads and especially like that you make yourself available here. Best of luck in whatever comes your way! :thumbsup |
