but obama shoulder shrugs the $17 billion project that replaces that and that's for fewer helicopters.

so instead of 28 choppers for $13.5b, we get 23 choppers for $20.5b,

and the American public is the dumbass here for pointing that out?

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

But again no is reading the article... Obama boy signed off on $1.2 something billion, not $17 billion.

HUh? You can't figure out what the article is stating so you think others didn't read it?
:1orglaugh

don't do that.

Moreover, there's plenty more out there than the OP article.

the 1.6B is for 6 prototype helicopters and simulators.

?This contract provides for the procurement of six test aircraft and the associated support equipment, integration of mature government-defined mission systems, a training system including a flight training device and a maintenance training device, logistics, engineering, and test and evaluation support,? according to the announcement.

read more, finger point less.

Program Status: Contract Awarded

The Navy awarded a $1,244,677,064 fixed-price incentive engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) contract, with production options, on May 7, 2014 to Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. Initial fielding is planned for 2020, with production concluding in 2023.

Under the contract, Sikorsky will use its in-production S-92A aircraft and integrate government defined mission systems and install an executive interior. A total of six test aircraft will be produced during EMD. The production options will produce an additional 17 aircraft in three lots, resulting in a total procurement of 23 aircraft. Four of the six test articles produced during EMD will become operational aircraft, bringing the operational inventory to 21.

this is from the original rfp:

The procurement will result in a fixed-price type contract for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase as well as options for Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP), Full Rate Production (FRP) and associated logistics elements to include interim contractor support, spares, support equipment, and repair of repairables. Options are also anticipated for the modification of System Demonstration Test Articles, integration of the Wideband Line of Sight System, Mission Tasking-2 Reconfiguration Kits and Earned Value Management Cost Reporting.

The total aircraft quantity includes 6 aircraft to support the EMD phase, 9 LRIP aircraft, and 8 FRP aircraft.

the 1.6b$ is for the EMD phase of the total project.

400 million for helicopter? Sounds insane, that is way more than boeings and airbus liners cost.

My guess is that the Presidential Helicopter Fleet has all the bells and whistles on it to make it as safe and attack-proof and comfortable as possible.

The ruling class lives far above any of us filthy citizens.

Great - you can read, but you can't read between the lines. The title of the article is "White House's $17 Billion" implying Obama is spending $17 billion, which you correctly pointed out is completely false.

However, Vendzilla can't read to save his life and repeats the $17 billion figure in the title of this thread. To make it even better, the article tells us how the last Republican president fucked us out of $3 billion and we got zip for it.

I understand that it has many super features, but still... Which of them can cost that much? Sounds like some pockets will get some extra money..

again, HUH?

the 1.2B$ is simply for the fixed cost portion of the total project. they have to call it something the get things going. They can't name any other costs in the vxx project because they are not fixed.

that's reading between the lines, but that's also understanding how RFPs and contracts work.

Hah-hah...I have Rochard on "ignore" now because of his love of trolling.

But reading what you just quoted him saying made me laugh about the use of the words "us" and "we" in that last sentence.

As if ANY of us ever had a say in how that money was spent. I guarantee you that if you asked people if they think that their tax money should be spent on super-duper helicopters for the Pres. to ride in to the airport to board his super-duper jet...most people would be like me and say "Hell NO!"

First off...the hypocrisy of a person who claims to be a proponent of "green energy" and stopping "global warming" to have such a HUGE carbon footprint is crazy isn't it?

But that's the way the RULING class in America rolls. They tell US what to do, and exempt themselves from all of it.

We want YOU to drive a prius...WE will ride in limousines.
We want YOU to save energy...WE will live in these mansions using more energy than your entire city block.
We don't want YOU to have a gun to protect yourself....but WE will be surrounded by armed guards all the time.

It's just crazy that the American people are letting this kind of thing stand for the last few decades as the ruling class in Washington D.C. has gotten more and more brazen.

it's going to have to reach a tipping point at some point. while shit is never totally in balance, when shit gets so far skewed in a direction, it will snap back. Not sure what it's going to take though.

Great, at the end of the day we signed a contract for for one billion plus. Far cry from seventeen billion.

But if you ask the general public if we should spend $200 million a year on staff for the White House, the answer would also be no. This doesn't take into account how much it costs when the President travels; Fleets of cars and helicopters and planes all go with him. This is the standard no matter if the President is a Democrat or a Republican.

No one tells you to drive a Prius; I drive a eight cylinder truck with horrible gas mileage. If you want a mansion buy a mansion. And no one is telling you can't have firearms in your house - I have three assault rifles!

The amount of money our government spends on the President and the White House and Congress.... It's insane. But it's nothing new.

that's cool you think that, I'm just clearing up your thinking that I should think that also, because I don't.
