Quit eating processed food. I have a saying. Only buy from the outside of the supermarket. All the shit in the middle will kill you. |
The people who are saying "quit this food and that food", would you share what your usual daily food intake looks like to give me an idea since i will be changing my diet completely ?

My advice is not to take any advice whatsoever from people on a message board.
(Excluding the above post). |
I also have high cholesterol. I am 31. I am very active in sports and am fit. I have had high cholesterol even as a kid and was 3x more active atleast then any kid is now a days. Some times its just how a person's liver is from all the tests I went threw. I do have to take RX cause of it and it has helped.

I seem to remember you like the Muslim culture, maybe fasting in Ramadan would be both a help and a pleasure to you.

I could tell you what I eat, but the cholesterol numbers don't tell the full story. I had a second heart episode just last month! No blockages or issues with plaque build up and no new hardware installed. A study was done to make sure my heart could find it's rhythm on it's own too. I was this close to having an implanted defibrillator but as the doctor said "you dodged a bullet."
You know what raises good cholesterol and lowers bad plus has no detractors? Exercise. It's just about the only thing I don't get enough of too. I think it's time to get off the chair and do something. How about gardening a few plants you can add to your diet? Spinach grows fast and well anywhere unless it's too hot for example. Or just going for a good 20 minute walk each day. |

pulled apart chicken into chunks, pealed the skin. used 2 spicy italian sausages grilled and sliced, green peppers, green onions, tomato past, pimento paste (siracha works instead), sassafrass, cayenne (only if you like it spicy, was good without) then add spinach and crushed garlic in the last few minutes, i use this instead of rice, which doesn't work for my low carb diet. inexpensive, about 10 bucks worth of ingredients and only took 15 mins to prep and cook--and low on sugars. for dining out or delivery I generally stick with salads with meats and low sugars, greek salads are perfect for my diet, loaded with antioxidants too. for snacks i stick with nuts and seeds, although celery with some dip is a nice change. |
Start eating lean meats, fish, veggies and fruit and your cholesterol will drop like a rock! Cut down on fatty foods and don't eat anything that's fried.
Lipitor is also a wonder drug. Cholesterol can also be hereditary. |
After reading this post I bought another book that is a very interesting approach. |

I cut it down to ONE sausage -- more veggies(fill :winkwink:). One Italian sausage is 15% of your daily allowance of cholesterol -- adds up fast. |

I have a seriously underweight vegan friend who cholesterol is through the roof. He is in his 70's, been a vegan form more than 30 years and does at least 5 miles a day on foot. He just has a shitty body. |

His liver functions at regulating cholesterol are out of whack ... |
Get your liver checked first & foremost. A full work up including hep a,b,c,d,e. Then the other tests they run ast and gst I think it's called. After the results discuss a plan of action with your doc. You def need a statin, in addition to laying off any booze, pills etc. Once that is done a complete lifestyle change is needed. Levels like yours need immediate intervention. Don't delay.
Be well & health to you Duke |

I've to go back in a couple of weeks and they will check if the cholesterol levels are linked to that. (I haven't had any alcohol since i started them). Either way, my diet etc had to change.. |
Try lowfat vegan for a month. I dont think anything will lower your cholesterol faster than sweaty heart pumping exercise and a plant based diet. Cholesterol comes from animals and they pump the meat with fat to make it taste better.
What I eat most days: Green smoothie first thing. Spinach, cucumber, pineapple, apple, lemon & water in a blender. At first you might not like it but after a while youll like it because it makes you want to run a million miles. Tons of green smoothie recipes out there Homemade Oatmeal for breakfast with some fresh or frozen fruit & stevia, I like frozen blueberries and bananas. Dont do 1 minute oatmeal as it goes into your blood too fast, get steel cut or regular oatmeal, thats perfect. Make a big batch once a week then store them into containers for the week, set yourself up for success. Potatoes for lunch, NO OIL & NO cooking spray (sprays are 100% fat despite the labels), not even olive oil that clogs arteries too despite what the marketing says. Just make mashed potatoes with no fat gravy & a side of veggies or cut the potatoes into oven fries & eat with ketchup. Make a BIG BIG plate so they fill you. There's no fat in potatoes but theres decent protein so and you can eat all you want. I never get tired of oven french fries and ketchup. Then veggies with rice for dinner with a little soy sauce, or giant soup, thats how asians stay slim and healthy. Something filling. Eat all the fruit you want for snacks. Apples (organic only for apples), Watermelon, Mango, whatever you want. Sweet fruits will kill your cravings for chocolate, ice cream, cookies etc. Put some corn tortillas in the oven and eat with with salsa to replace potato chips. You need to eat starchy foods like potatoes, rice, corn etc because they will keep you full. If you do only veggies youll be hungry all the time. This is low fat and will reduce your cholesterol. Dont add oil to anything, you can fry things in water. Drink lots of water, drown yourself with water. Use a treadmill and set it on an incline, hills make you lean and make you sweat, youll sweat the cholesterol out. Since I been eating this way the pounds have fallen off quickly. Follow this then go back in 2 months and get blood tests again, should be much better numbers. good luck ps - about Atkins, Dr Atkins weighed 258 pounds when he died and he had suffered from a heart attack, congestive heart failure, and hypertension. Exactly what you want to avoid. |
