Levels like yours need immediate intervention. Don't delay.

I'm currently on Roaccutane which is a 4 month course. I'm 2 months into that.

I've to go back in a couple of weeks and they will check if the cholesterol levels are linked to that. (I haven't had any alcohol since i started them).

Either way, my diet etc had to change..

Try lowfat vegan for a month. I dont think anything will lower your cholesterol faster than sweaty heart pumping exercise and a plant based diet. Cholesterol comes from animals and they pump the meat with fat to make it taste better.

What I eat most days:
Green smoothie first thing. Spinach, cucumber, pineapple, apple, lemon & water in a blender. At first you might not like it but after a while youll like it because it makes you want to run a million miles. Tons of green smoothie recipes out there

Homemade Oatmeal for breakfast with some fresh or frozen fruit & stevia, I like frozen blueberries and bananas.
Dont do 1 minute oatmeal as it goes into your blood too fast, get steel cut or regular oatmeal, thats perfect. Make a big batch once a week then store them into containers for the week, set yourself up for success.

Potatoes for lunch, NO OIL & NO cooking spray (sprays are 100% fat despite the labels), not even olive oil that clogs arteries too despite what the marketing says. Just make mashed potatoes with no fat gravy & a side of veggies or cut the potatoes into oven fries & eat with ketchup. Make a BIG BIG plate so they fill you. There's no fat in potatoes but theres decent protein so and you can eat all you want. I never get tired of oven french fries and ketchup.

Then veggies with rice for dinner with a little soy sauce, or giant soup, thats how asians stay slim and healthy. Something filling.
Eat all the fruit you want for snacks. Apples (organic only for apples), Watermelon, Mango, whatever you want. Sweet fruits will kill your cravings for chocolate, ice cream, cookies etc. Put some corn tortillas in the oven and eat with with salsa to replace potato chips.

You need to eat starchy foods like potatoes, rice, corn etc because they will keep you full. If you do only veggies youll be hungry all the time.
This is low fat and will reduce your cholesterol. Dont add oil to anything, you can fry things in water.
Drink lots of water, drown yourself with water.

Use a treadmill and set it on an incline, hills make you lean and make you sweat, youll sweat the cholesterol out.
Since I been eating this way the pounds have fallen off quickly.
Follow this then go back in 2 months and get blood tests again, should be much better numbers.
good luck

ps - about Atkins, Dr Atkins weighed 258 pounds when he died and he had suffered from a heart attack, congestive heart failure, and hypertension. Exactly what you want to avoid.

Roaccutane/Accutane does affect your liver function and lipid/cholesterol levels.

Normal side effect -- if for a short period it should not be a problem. It takes years to develop blood clots and heart problems (coronary disease) from elevated lipids.

Still, as you get older 45+ your metabolism will change (most people). So, if you start eating a lowered cholesterol now you will live longer with less health problems ...
