There is a number of factors to weight gain and loss and you are only discussing two of them. Sleep, metabolism, and stress come to mind. I can pin point the exact moment I started to gain weight - it was when I quit smoking. This is very common. But a single visit to the gym - or going for two months - does not magically fix the problem. |
Could Always Turn It Around
Its hard for me to understand how a person could let themselves get obese unless you have a medical condition, but its always possible to turn it around. Just stop eating so much, not too hard or I guess it's hard because we wouldn't have fat people.

Im pissed off Mexico passed the USA as the fattest nation! Murica needs to step up its game.

I was at the event. I would have gladly taken a moment to hear your concerns. Anyway,I know that woman in your funny picture. She happens to be a lovely person who has lost over 100 pounds in the last year without surgery and was allowing herself a weekend of feeling like a human being. I do think attempting to look after yourself is important and it is a shame when someone has lost the will to do so but that includes substance abuse, drinking, reckless unprotected sex and any number of life choices that isn't as obvious to the casual observer. Of course, I also think it is a shame when a grown adult doesn't have the courage to say something to a person's face but sneaks photos he can use to mock them from the safety of his keyboard. |

But for many people who use overeating to cope with emotional pain (and I would say that that is a BIG percentage of people who are overweight) it is not because they are weak. |
Menopause!!! Men and women age, go through the change, get grumpy, their penis/vagina/anus stops working as well as it used too. They develop lumps where there weren't any, other lumps sag, they don't see so well any more. Organs stop working or slow down/speed up, life's repressed traumas have a way of catching up with you when you age also.
Them damn ear hairs that grow inward will drive you fucking nuts! And no regimen, drugs, diet, supplements work exactly the same on any 2 persons. Sooner or later we all become victims of aging and gravity. Wait till you have to tuck your balls into your socks to keep them for getting rug burn at the office. |
I think this thread has caused me to gain 20lbs. A bunch of chubs and chasers in the house. The truth shall set us free!

BUT NOT EASY. |

Funny thing how I see you taking selfies holding a large pizza. I'll be turning 30 soon, and it is a little easier to pack on weight then when I was maybe 16-17 but it's only maybe 20-30% easier, not much considering. While I'm not Ripped I can still bench more than my own weight and have a resting heart rate below 50 bpm. I do long burns at the gym 3-4 times a week. All gyms should have wifi right now, get out your favorite Netflix queue or shows and do 60-90 minutes on the elliptical (watch tv at the gym not your house) throw in some weights for muscular build. You will lose weight this way pretty quick, well most will anyway. Eating a pizza afterwards will counter that. Unless you have a very unique medical problem which makes you obese, if you can't figure out how to lose weight you're just too damn stupid. :2 cents: |
When it comes down to it, it is simple physics.
Our bodies expend energy and if you put in more than you burn and you're body is good at storing what you don't expend immediately, you will put on weight in the form of fat. Working behind a keyboard a lot requires that I get and exercise, lest I become a fat fuck like one of the butt hurts in this thread. |

Eat a twinkie, please. (Though in this crazy biz that can mean something altogether differant, so....eat a doughnut, please. No wait....um, eat some candy....dammit, porn has ruined all examples for me.) |
I've been gone for a fucking while and this fucking thread comes up?? WTF?...do I really need to read through it all? God damn it you fuckers this is going to be a waste of my time unless you have figured out how I can get paid to read GFY threads? Anyone?? ... god damn this is where I throw my drink in your face and tell you to meet me outside!

Fat == will-less and ugly fuck/cunt, and yes, I'm judgemental. All that you need to keep yourself fit is (1) check your weight regularly, (2) eat less calories than you spend (so count your calories and either do more sport or eat less, or both) and (3) - eat more or less healthy food, without trans-fats and with minimum of carbohydrates. Disabled people are the exception. Starving people in Africa don't get fat, your fat is your guilt only.
A healthy man or women should have enough will to be moderate in food, it's really not that hard. Now some advice. If you see that you start having problems with weight the first thing to do is to start count your calories. You have to ensure that every day you eat the same number of calories. This will be your point of reference. Having such point is absolutely vital, without it any diet will likely fail. Then in a week weight yourself. If you see your weight went up just correct your ration and have 10% less calories a day. Then repeat it in the next week. Keep cutting calories untill you see you start losing 3-4 kg/month. Eat more if you see you start losing more than 4 kg/month. To make this easier eat less carbohydrates (sugar, white bread, sweet fruits) and exclude transfats - ensure all vegetable oil you eat is either olive or sunflower but not cheap palm or rape. This will allow you keep eating more protein- and fat-rich food, you won't get too hungry. It's really not that hard when you get used to it, you need just a little bit of will. 182/80 , 38 y/o |

The thing that needs to be focused on most with such people is overall fitness, not weight. Getting a checkup with your doctor, especially one who has examined your health before you started excercise and dieting, will have a good comparative analysis with which to work from. They can let you know if you're on the right track or not, or what you might do or need to get on a better track. Roald's comment was correct in a sense, as was yours. Everyone here needs to stop disagreeing and start listening. Arguing each of our individual cases is nonsensical. |
It's funny how everyone's definition of "fat" is different.
