Btw, theory of relativity is a theory, else it would be named the law of relativity.

Funny enough.. I checked the author's other "contributions" to Fobes.com..

Every single article he has written for Forbes is anti global warming..

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/

He also comes up several times on media matters where they counter his arguments and pretty much show he cherry picks shit and makes up facts to fit his agenda..

http://mediamatters.org/tags/james-taylor

He is obviously not objective and he just cherry picks his shit. Big surprise, he fed you guys exactly what you wanted to hear and you sucked it right up.

I gather that the crux of his posts is that there is some law being applied to climate change, thus the memtioning of a few. But it makes no sense to include a theory mixed in with laws if you're trying to argue others are ignoring a law of climate change. My point entirely is man-made climate change is a theory and moreover the science has been politicized with one side claiming their theory is law/fact because a bunch of people agree.

or maybe the point was we take all these things for granted from scientists.. but when it comes to man-made climate change everyones all:

There's no better way to show the World you don't really understand science than to make a silly statement like this.

Let me give you a quick little lesson. Instead of typing it out, I'm just going to cut and paste somebody else's words.

Quote:

In the language of science, the word "law" describes an analytic statement. It gives us a formula that tells us what things will do. For example, Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation tells us that "Every point mass attracts every single point mass by a force pointing along the line intersecting both points. The force is directly proportional to the product of the two masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the point masses." That formula will let us calculate the gravitational pull between the Earth and the object you dropped, between the Sun and Mars, or between me and a bowl of ice cream.

We can use Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation to calculate how strong the gravitational pull is between the Earth and the object you dropped, which would let us calculate its acceleration as it falls, how long it will take to hit the ground, how fast it would be going at impact, how much energy it will take to pick it up again, etc.

While the law lets us calculate quite a bit about what happens, notice that it does not tell us anything about why it happens. That is what theories are for. In the language of science, the word "theory" is used to describe an explanation of why and how things happen. For gravity, we use Einstein's Theory of General Relativity to explain why things fall.

I believe global warming is true.

But I don't believe in carbon taxing or any other tax system to counter it. If any party suggested it I would vote against that party.

I'm not naive enough to believe everything governments say. Instead I look at the big picture and see who's saying what and base my opinion on that.

What does that make me?

have more respect for people that can earn because I feel they have a more 'realistic understanding' of reality... in my personal experience all the people of 'liberal or pro liberal or into global warming or other weird liberal agendas' make no money and excuse this by blaming 'the man' and 'weird 1%' manipulations as the excuse for their failures instead of accepting that they have no 'snap' or are unable to succeed.

for instance all the people I personally know who love the fuck out of Obama care basically earn about 20k a year and now have 'subsidized health care ins' while people like me that actually earn a living have had our 'health care ins' cost doubled ...

that's the reality I live in, while you guys live in some weird 'chemtrail' world run by lizard people and the 1% and global warming

seen this many times :2 cents:

It's funny and sad to watch how far to the right extreme the GOP has become. Things that even Republicans used to think were insane are now mainstream in their party.

All this because a black man got elected twice into the white house. Obama has destroyed the Republican party by driving them absolutely bat shit crazy.

Honestly man...you are just coming across like you think you're smarter than other people. And you are insinuating that if anyone doesn't accept what scientists who are funded by Green Energy say as absolute...then they are a "christian"
I'm not.

And then in the second quote you basically are calling me and anybody else who disagrees with you a redneck.

Then you made your third quote.

My position in this discussion has been pretty clear: The "science" that you are going with is based completely on outdated computer models that used faulty data from over a decade ago.
Nature adapted, things have changed and those models are WRONG.

What grapesoda showed in the original post is that these scientists don't want to lose their funding and therefore are willing to ignore, distort, and try to hide the new data.

And what I said was...if it's really happening, then why isn't one single govt. actually DOING something about it? Other than having conferences and talking...none of them have done a thing.

And the BIGGEST offender in pollution is the United States military.
Ships, planes, tanks, hummers, jeeps, and of course dropping bombs everywhere.

If the Democrat Party really, really believes in this...then WHY aren't they voting to bring the military back home and stop "destroying the Earth"?

The military does more than everything else COMBINED to pollute and leave a carbon footprint. It's the real "culprit" IF "Global Warming" is man made.

But instead...it's business as usual. Military bases around the world, military jets flying all over the world, tanks rolling, hummers speeding about...and the politicians in Washington D.C. riding around in big ass limos and flying in private jets.

I think that Pres. Obama is privy to a lot more information about "global warming' than you or I.
And yet...he leaves that HUGE carbon footprint as he left the White House on Air Force One to go to Martha's Vinyard and vacation at a 12 million dollar mansion.

And Sen. Majority leader Harry Reid. He's the leader of the Dems and the Senate. He's my Senator from Nevada...though his "residence" here is a one bedroom apt. in a tiny shithole town called "Searchlight, NV"...he actually lives in the Ritz Carlton in a penthouse suite.

While he's taking his limousine from the big penthouse suite at the Ritz back and forth to Capital Hill...why isn't he DOING anything?
I bet he's privy to all the real data and inside info on "global warming".

But nope. He just leaves his big ass carbon footprint and does nothing.

Wouldn't you think that if those two powerful leaders REALLY thought that "global warming" was happening they would DO something?

But they damn sure want YOU to live like it does.

Funny how that works huh?

Do as I say, not as I do. That seems to be the message.

When I see the govt. actually take action, that's when I'll KNOW it's not a money scam to sell carbon credits.
And the fact that "Carbon Credits" even exist should tell you all you need to know.

Jel 07-24-2014 06:09 PM

No, the funny part is how climate alarmist shoot themselves in the foot with their style of fingerpointing and shit. Your side is the one wanting change, not the other side. They're fine with things. You'll never make any one change their behavior with the style of persuasion you and others in this thread use.

I'm indoors and on my laptop now so I an reply in detail.

I worded my comment like that because regardless of the historical use of both terms, law and theory, man-made global warming is neither.

But global warming alarmist expect the other side to disregard that because they know better about that, laws and theories.

My style of arguing that sort of logic is to apply the same logic back, that's why I also point out the fact that the scientific method is being perverted with this science is settled mantra because, you know, 97% of a bunch of people knocked knocked on each other's research a few years ago so end of discussion.

not only does that smack of elitism, it's wrong. But worse, as I mentioned above, it absolutely halts any opportunity to sway the other side to come around to what global alarmists want them to do.

You harp on and on about your one single study that I have already shown you has come up short. You bring it up each time as it's some new great thing, yet its affects have been shown already to be of little to know benefit. Yet because it's what you want to hear you ignore the rest of the details.

Crockett...I'm not "harping" about anything...except that you keep ignoring the FACT that new data has already proven you WRONG.

You haven't shown anybody anything.

You aren't a scientist. You aren't an expert. You are a clown on GFY who has earned no respect.
And now you are making people run the opposite way of what you are trying to push.

You bring up hateful diatribes against the GOP and then you play the race card. And I have no idea how either of those things even popped up on your keyboard in a discussion on climate change.

Look...if you hate yourself for being white and you hate the majority of people in this country for not blindly accepting "Carbon Credits" and Solyndra style cronyism/tax payer money give-aways...then I can't help you man.

Go see a shrink and get some therapy. You're going to need it when the mid-term elections happen.
