Nice recommendations. I originally looked at https://www.missionbicycle.com but those are very expensive. I then found http://www.republicbike.com at $399. The sites you pointed out are quite a bit cheaper still. I guess you can get up a pretty good speed in a fixed gear bike around the city?

retrospec bicycles also, I should have included them initially and totally forgot about them.

yeah, peeps can flat out haul on a single speed. I see them in DTLA all the time. I like the choice of gearing mine came with, terrific acceleration for me without burning my legs up and a good cadence when trying to maintain a high speed. I would think 15+mph is easily achieved on one. I was also initally concerned about just 1 brake, but the brake is very grippy and hasn't let me down yet.

Ima Cycling fanatic, I do Crits and tours. Great place to pick up a bike is http://www.bikesdirect.com/ Then simply have your local bike shop put it together for you.
... Love every bike you guys posted! :thumbsup

I have a bicycle. a GT Outpost that I bought in 2008.

I have a hybrid that's more on the sporty side. I can easily keep it at a constant 22km/hr without wasting a whole bunch of energy. I've been regularly riding about 20km a day and at least 2x a week 35k.

I can say, however, the difference of riding in the states vs. the Netherlands is night and day. I fucking love the dedicated bike paths through the country and rarely having to share with cars. I don't feel like I'm putting my life on the line like in the states.

Went for a bike like this. Cruising down the city.
I also have a crate for my beer!

Plus the extra and the big reason why i bought this bike are the extra thick tires.
When i'm drunk :banana, i no longer fall on my face since my tire is stuck in the tramway tracks :thumbsup

Nice ones, but I don't drive anymore, after I fell asleep on one. Damn sunny mornings by the ocean. :1orglaugh

I figure i would stick to a regular biking routine rather than a walking/running one...

I figure this will keep my attention more than just running. Let's see how long it lasts. Pity our Summer will be over soon though.

Do you cycle ?? :upsidedow

I don't have bicycle. Can you ski in Scotland (as you referred summer ending)?
