Saints get rare road win: The New Orleans Saints took over first place in the N-F-C South with a 28-10 rout of the Carolina Panthers. Drew Brees finished 24 of 34 for 297 yards as the Saints snapped a seven-game losing streak on the road.


Condolences to all those (myself included) who went heavy with Carolina. :(

This week started off on Thursday night with a surprise win by the Browns over the Bengals. The surprises didn't stop there though. Niners eeked out a squeaker of a win in OT over the Saints on Sunday, and the Pack absolutely SHAMED the Bears in a massive blowout.

Even with Foles out and Sanchez (the butt-fumbler) at the helm the Eagles managed to cruise to a huge win over Carolina in the Monday Nighter, which of course set the stage for our pool winner this week. It came down to yet another tie which then falls to the MNF score to decide,

In the event of a "total tie" as you say, it then falls to poolhost rules to decide it, which state that the person in the tie who submitted his or her picks first for that week is the winner.

If that had happened this week it would have been a first for the PussyCash Pool.

This is definitely the year of ties though. I've never seen so many in one season.

This week the Chiefs stepped up and proclaimed themselves as the 'real deal' by handing the Seahawks yet another surprising loss. But it was St Louis Rams beating Denver Broncos that came as the biggest upset to most in the pool.

One of the teams most looking like they are Superbowl-bound right now is Green Bay, who trounced the Philly Eagles soundly.

I hate that you can't do couple weeks in advance...

It's a point spread pool, you'll always have to wait until the lines come out of Vegas each week. There's no way around it except to go with a straight no-line pickem pool, which is far less challenging. Boring to some.

You're still not out of it though. Someone missed week 1 a few years back and ended up finishing in the top 3 overall. It can be done, so don't give up.

First, "that catch" everyone is talking about. On the morning after one of the better (and arguably the best) catches in NFL history, according to the NY Times, the play was being analyzed by physicists, mechanical engineers and sports scientists. And even under the microscope "that catch" by Giants' receiver Odell Beckam earned rave reviews.

Seattle let some air out of the Arizona Cardinals' swagger on Sunday. Denver won but did not cover the spread against Miami.

Monday Nighter doubleheader update -- Ravens and Bills get wins on Monday Night Football: Kyle Orton threw two touchdowns as the Buffalo Bills utterly crushed the New York Jets 38-3. In New Orleans, Justin Forsett rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns as the Baltimore Ravens beat the Saints 34-27. An ill-timed interception throw by Drew Brees didn't help NO either, which resulted in a pick-six. Ravens remain the only team in the league that Brees has not had a win against.

And because of the inclusion of that previously-snowed-out Bills-Jets game this week we get a surprise winner that no one saw coming...
