Killer

A month before killing his family, Lowell Lee Andrews, The Nicest boy in Kansas
We were at the American Royal Parade. I was so small I couldn't see because of the people in front. Lowell in his Eagle Scout uniform, knew my step-dad so he put me up on his shoulders so I could see.
Lowell was the guy hung just before Hitchcock & Smith in the book In Cold Blood.
Lowell was so fat, when the hung him his neck didn't snap. Took a 1/2 hour of pulling on his legs to get the job done.

Phil Rizzuto at a baseball card show. At the time I didn't know he was the announcer in paradise by the dashboard light

RummyBoy 10-16-2014 10:37 PM

I met Rino Vadera.

Rino isn't the most well known celeb in the world.

Actually he's a wannabe actor who played a baker in a tv pilot that didn't turn into a fully fledged tv series. However, he carried out his role as a baker with panache and style and put the cherry on the top of the cake with exemplary precision and sophistication.

Since then he's basically quit acting and is now a (real life) waiter but he technically had his 15 minutes of fame. Actually, it was more like half a minute but he's done some youtube videos so if you add it all up, its in that ballpark. I can't find him on IMDB any more but I guess his name is somewhere there up in lights.

I did tech support at a large university so I met quite a few football players some who later went into the NFL, some I spent extensive time with while fixing their computers. I'll let you guess which school, I also spent a lot of time going to punk and metal shows so here are some where I got to meet at least some of the band members.

Warrick Dunn
Jesse Solomon
Bobby Bowden
Jeff Bowden
Deion Sanders
Derrick Brooks
Brad Johnson
Iron Maiden
Corrosion of Conformity
Dirty Rotten Imbeciles
Saint Vitus
The Mentors
Gardy Loo
Voivod
Soundgarden
The Cro-Mags
Henry Rollins
Julie Newmar
and my most favorite to brag about
Gunnar Hansen - also known as Leatherface in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre!

Oh and Dweezel Zappa asked me if I knew if there were any free range eggs when I was shopping at Ralphs. When you live in NYC, Miami, or especially LA you tend to run into famous people while doing everyday errands like going to the grocery store or just walking your dog :2 cents:

SilentKnight 10-17-2014 04:30 PM

Paul Henderson
Dave Keon
Garney Henley (CFL Hall of Famer - Hamilton Ti-Cats)
K.T. Oslin
Saga (the band)

and depending how you define 'famous' - I talk to our city Mayor almost daily, lol.

theking 10-17-2014 04:34 PM

A few off of the top of my head. Buck Owens...Merle Haggard...Jerry Quarry (heavy weight..once the great white hope) and Bobo Olsen (once held the middle weight title).

it's a normal sports hall of fame, but it's over-represented.

Willie Mosconi
Nick Varner
Mike Siegel
Lou Butera
Ewa Mataya
Loree Jon Jones
Buddy Hall
Steve Mizrek
Gene Catron
Steve Cook
Mike Massey
Tommy Kennedy
... and a lot of other great pool players I've met or competed against when I toured.

onwebcam 03-11-2017 08:57 PM

Forgotten more than I could possibly remember.

oppoten 03-11-2017 09:00 PM

oppoten 03-11-2017 09:06 PM

Mine was Terry Duckworth (Nigel Pivaro).

I was like 17 and he made a beeline for me, which I was well impressed with. Come on Clips, you can't beat Terry Duckworth!

Just a few I can come up with without thinking too much..

Slash
All of the Judd Family
Michael Bolton
Jessica Simpson
Nick and Drew Lachey
Shania Twain
Smashing Pumpkins
Carrot Top
The Band Perry
Kid Rock (and Pamela while they were dating)
Jamey Johnson
and many more..

You'll notice a trend. All of the people I mentioned received mention because they are actually very cool down to earth people that left an impression as such. Kid Rock can be both cool and/or asshole depending on his alcohol intake...

Bladewire 03-11-2017 09:18 PM

6 degrees of separation :2 cents:

Perhaps you're reflecting?

Each of those people I've hung with for at least a night. Most many nights. To give perspective, I was at Wy's wedding. She absolutely LOVES me and tried to get Ashley and I together at one point. Bolton unbeknownst to many had a thing for Ashley and that's how I met him.. He wasn't at the wedding though.. Many others were.. I was at Shania's original release party. Kid Rock is all over this town and we use to hang at some of the same places many of which he's been tossed out of.. Pamela was here when one of his bands was playing at a friends bar. just so happens I was the only one wearing a tux in a grunge bar that night so that helped with that introduction. Slash is very good friends with one of my best friends.. Jamey Johnson's ex is a childhood friend.. She is why he is the success that he is (she co-wrote most of his original songs) and also why he nearly lost it all in the beginning (he was a drunk so she left him and he went into a drunken depression). Shall I continue?

Not many...now that I think of it.
