Reminded me of that saying:

"Refraining from junk, fatty, sweet and salty food will make your face look thinner, but sadder."

not enough fats, thats why you are hungry all the time, and thats why this isn't a long term solution to being healthy. organs need fats, brain needs fats.. You mostly burn muscle and proteins on a low fat diet which is unhealthy as it gets. Even if you want to do it with nuts and seeds instead it all works, fish too.

hey rochard? what happens when you stop 'biking' 20 miles a day? you swell up... diet is 85% and exercise only helps maintain when it comes to fat loss... diet does not have to be lowering calories, there are better options.

I tend to think of it as low carb versus low fat as I eat beef in there. Also when I enter into my MyFitnessPal, it shows 26% fat for the day versus a goal of 30%. The carbs are way low.

And yes no one would want to live on this diet. It is a crash to get you to where you want to be quickly.

if you're hungry as fuck then you're probably eating too far under your maintenance calories. You're training your body to digest its own muscle.

And people should stop being scared of fat. Fat isn't what makes you fat. Carbs make you fat.

you need fats every day, not once every few days. Like i said, nuts and seeds are fine for in betweens, don't have to do it with cheese and bacon.

Did you blend a few diet ideas together or is there one plan that you sort of followed. I am up for a change on some of this as it gets monotonous.

mmm dat low carb high fat goodness... Down 70 pounds in 10 months. Plus never hungry, and $22/day haha? Only if I go to whole foods.

You are going to need to change your habits across the board. :-)

Learn to cook. You'll save even more money, you'll eat much better, you'll eat much healthier, and what lady doesn't like a guy that cooks?

What has happened is I did this diet a few years ago. I lost weight but over time it came back. Repeat.

Then I thought well lets not go through this. Make some changes and focus. Pretty much have kept a constant weight. Then changed ladies in my life, going out, traveling, living it up. Well the small changes quickly were forgotten, and I got out of hand.

So I was running 190-200 lbs as a long term weight (205 caused the concern). Now with working out etc, I thought maybe a 185-190 range with a better physique is doable. So crashing down to that weight and then add back in the small changes to keep it there.

And crashing is maybe a misnomer as I have/had 60 days to drop the 15 lbs. A bit quick but not crazy.

I cut out the Mt Dew and that has helped over the years but added in vodka/redbull so not so good there. hahahah

To add some extra fat to your diet, drink bulletproof coffee. It's just your coffee with a tablespoon of grass fed unsalted butter and some coconut oil, which has MCT's(medium chain triglycerides). Eating less carbs is easy. Just avoid sugar and bread.

It's called the Ketogenic diet.

A bit extreme for me. Would be cool to try it for a month and rip down the fat.

Edit: Other applications is a pretty cool read.

Extreme it is not. You can do keto without being extreme. Just up your g of carb intake. Just be conscious of what you eat.

losing weight by starving your body isnt clever move. excising is the right wait for it

Not starving. I can eat as much as I want. I am just taking out carbs for the most part. Also continuing to exercise everyday.

"Because of the risk of complications during ketogenic diet initiation, most centres begin the diet under close medical supervision in hospital."

Edit: I do feel like I am starving so maybe. And today was beef so higher fat for lunch.

I don't understand all this love for the chicken breast. It's the driest, most flavourless cut. Give me a skin-on, bone-in thigh anyday!

Its low carb and probably less then 20 grams of carbs a day which is good.

I have been doing low carb, low fat the last 2.5 months.
I dropped 15 kilo and never felt hungry.

no, low carb isn't less than 20 carbs a day.

look up the difference between low carb and no carb diets

congrats on your 15 kilo loss, i lost 40 pounds on a true no carb/ketogenic diet with exercise and cut my bodyfat down to under 7% at 47 years old.

under 20g of carbs, ESPECIALLY when those carbs are brocolli/vegetables, is a zero carb diet.

:)

You have to admit, you can get some good ideas quickly. But "good" is relative.

mybadass 11-19-2014 06:40 AM

uraghhhhhhh, not tasty, is it?

slapass 01-14-2015 02:45 PM

Update: down 16 lbs and maintained it through the holidays. I still avoid carbs but not fanatically. It has pretty much been easy and painless for the most part.

bronco67 01-14-2015 02:49 PM

If you feel like you're starving yourself then your losing the wrong kind of weight....muscle. Eat at (or a little below) your maintenance level and focus on building muscle. The fat will take care of itself.

When you lose weight on a severe calorie restriction, you're training your system to be a fat storage depot. Put on muscle and you'll be a fat burning machine.
