Which one? the 1970 film with Ted Neely?

http://www.turnbacktogod.com/wp-cont...1973-Movie.jpg

Or the recent 2000 "stage production" with some other dude?

http://covers.booktopia.com.au/big/3...yd-webber-.jpg

I like them both. Actually, I also like the original rock opera 2 CD recording with the dude from Deep Purple (Ian Gillan):

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...s_us_cover.png

When I first got into the musical, I only had the above soundtrack. I didn't realize they added two songs ("Then we are decided" and "Could we start again please?") for the film version. I saw it performed live probably 20 years ago (with an aging Ted Neely still playing Jesus), and I was like, "what the fuck are these songs?"

I then went out and bought the film soundtrack. And then the 2000 version came out...took a bit to get used to, but I like it as well.

I also used to watch A Clockwork Orange so much that the soundtrack become embedded in my brain.

I picked up the cd shortly thereafter.

Listening to Interstellar...it ranks way up there. Put on headphones and listen to this track all the way through. Wow.

He has a bunch of winners...

"Once upon a Time in America," ..."in the West", once upon a time anything he has done...

"The Good the Bad and The Ugly" should never be taken for granted just because it is so freaking iconic, but so is "For a Few Dollars More" which gets less fanfare but is totally genius too.

Yeah I grew up on Morricone... the Dollars Trilogy, Once Upon a Time in The West, Once Upon a Time The Revolution (or "Duck You Sucker"), Once Upon a Time In America, The Untouchables... he did Carpenter better than Carpenter with The Thing... top of my head (but not as memorable) were scores he did for "Days Of Heaven" (one of my favorite movies as an adult) and "Hornet's Nest" (one of my favorite movies as a kid).

I'm sure he's done tons more I'm not even aware of or remember - he's been around forever, and may never die - I just can't think of any now...

Shit now I must watch The Good, The Bad and The Ugly again...

:D

Ugh! Not ashamed to admit it - I bought the Flash Gordon soundtrack when I was a kid, and still like the movie today thanks in big part to some of the music.

Yes!!! Wow... what an amazing soundtrack for this movie. One of my all time favourites. Every piece of the music fits perfectly with each scene it's paired with.

Yes. I fucking LOVE this one. I bought it not long after the movie came out, and listen to it often when I'm working. Just amazing.

Here's my other favourites:

Tron Legacy:

Man of Steel (best, best, best)

The Island

bronco67 11-22-2014 05:26 PM

Love these tracks

This classic works best to see it in context of the movie

Same with this one. Masterful shit.

"Duck You Sucker" has been on cable lately. Masterpiece. Sergio and Ennio equals incrediblio.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Far-L 11-22-2014 05:44 PM

This was recorded with Garcia simply watching the scene without sound and jamming to it. I find it deeply emotional and beautifully spiritual and makes me verklempt every time I see/hear it.

Far-L 11-22-2014 06:14 PM

From "Performance" a shroomy movie with a great soundtrack

Far-L 11-22-2014 06:35 PM

You all look like I'm on acid... :winkwink:

Far-L 11-22-2014 06:53 PM

Godfathers of electronic music Tangerine Dream - "Sorcerer"

The movie is about a bunch of dead end desperate men who agree to drive highly volatile nitro glycerin through a jungle and over a mountain to help bury a well fire. He who lives gets paid enough to buy a way back... soundtrack adds an amazing level of suspense...

And that reminds me of "The Exorcist" and Mike Oldfield's incredible "Tubular Bells"

I totally forgot about Oblivion. Kind of a basic story, but told with beautiful image and music.

This scene, and this music, is probably my favourite.

Fucking awesome.

aka123 11-23-2014 03:43 AM

I vote for Oblivion too, it has impressive audio and visual too.

That girl was so hot in that movie. Yummy.

ReggieDurango 11-23-2014 05:38 AM

Obviously the Braveheart soundtrack, dudes!

CarlosTheGaucho 11-23-2014 06:11 AM

Blade runner OST would be my no. 1 choice as an original soundtrack, among with the original Alien - these soundtracks are absolutely essential to its movies and equally important as the stunning visuals.

Then lately it was Prometheus OST.

From the classics definitely Conan the Barbarian, Predator or Lethal Weapon.

Then when it comes to song compilations there are essential 90's Tarantino movies Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown - those I heard countless times too.

When it comes to more obscure stuff always been a great admirer of Joe Hisaiashi and his minimalistic soundtracks for Takeshi Kitano's movies. David Lynch sure has a taste for a memorable OST too.

Some people don't know the difference between a soundtrack and a score?

I take back Braveheart - great score though in that one!

Paul 11-25-2014 05:41 AM

The soundtrack of The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty is outstanding!

I think José González composed most of the soundtrack

wocnom 11-29-2014 04:08 AM

Hi there guys, here are just three from my list:

Conan the Barbarian

The Fountain

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

I link just one song per soundtrack above, but whole soundtracks are just pure gold (such as the movies are).
If you like these too, feel free to recommend me some from your personal favorites \o/
