Mike Bloomfield...
Not only did he do two amazing soundtracks for the LSD classic "The Trip" but also "Medium Cool" and a few Mitchell Bros. porn soundtracks... When you think of the "wacka wacka bwow" sound in the Golden Age of Porn you are bowing to the majesty of Bloomfield and his influence |

Beck on "Scott Pilgrim" and "City of Ghosts"
From silly fun punk to haunting chilly like a trunk with a body that may or may not be in it. |

Oops, the last one was a fuckin' remix. The original soundtrack is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsHfgQwDamk - that's a movie about Russian gangsters. Something like "The Sopranos", but much more interesting, dramatic and dynamic (there are only 5 episodes).
P.S. The Sopranos was real boring. Don't understand who found that sticky pink snot amusing :2 cents: |

Which one? the 1970 film with Ted Neely? http://www.turnbacktogod.com/wp-cont...1973-Movie.jpg Or the recent 2000 "stage production" with some other dude? http://covers.booktopia.com.au/big/3...yd-webber-.jpg I like them both. Actually, I also like the original rock opera 2 CD recording with the dude from Deep Purple (Ian Gillan): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...s_us_cover.png When I first got into the musical, I only had the above soundtrack. I didn't realize they added two songs ("Then we are decided" and "Could we start again please?") for the film version. I saw it performed live probably 20 years ago (with an aging Ted Neely still playing Jesus), and I was like, "what the fuck are these songs?" I then went out and bought the film soundtrack. And then the 2000 version came out...took a bit to get used to, but I like it as well. |
I also used to watch A Clockwork Orange so much that the soundtrack become embedded in my brain.
http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225...7N8K0fXYrg.jpg I picked up the cd shortly thereafter. A Clockwork Orange Soundtrack - Ludwig Van Beethoven - Ninth Symphony, Second Movement - YouTube |

Listening to Interstellar...it ranks way up there. Put on headphones and listen to this track all the way through. Wow.

This was recorded with Garcia simply watching the scene without sound and jamming to it. I find it deeply emotional and beautifully spiritual and makes me verklempt every time I see/hear it.

From "Performance" a shroomy movie with a great soundtrack

Godfathers of electronic music Tangerine Dream - "Sorcerer"
The movie is about a bunch of dead end desperate men who agree to drive highly volatile nitro glycerin through a jungle and over a mountain to help bury a well fire. He who lives gets paid enough to buy a way back... soundtrack adds an amazing level of suspense... And that reminds me of "The Exorcist" and Mike Oldfield's incredible "Tubular Bells" |
I totally forgot about Oblivion. Kind of a basic story, but told with beautiful image and music.
This scene, and this music, is probably my favourite. Fucking awesome. |
I vote for Oblivion too, it has impressive audio and visual too.

Obviously the Braveheart soundtrack, dudes!

Blade runner OST would be my no. 1 choice as an original soundtrack, among with the original Alien - these soundtracks are absolutely essential to its movies and equally important as the stunning visuals.
Then lately it was Prometheus OST. From the classics definitely Conan the Barbarian, Predator or Lethal Weapon. Then when it comes to song compilations there are essential 90's Tarantino movies Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown - those I heard countless times too. When it comes to more obscure stuff always been a great admirer of Joe Hisaiashi and his minimalistic soundtracks for Takeshi Kitano's movies. David Lynch sure has a taste for a memorable OST too. |
