Ok so what Im hearing is that its too much of an uphill battle to try and make a mainstream mature dating site, i should just go for an adult site so it will be easier to promote and people will be less fussy about the name.

Domain is irrelevant. Either you have the skill and ability to hit your goals or you don't. Just tossing something up and hoping the world will find it, clever domain or not, is guaranteed to fail.

However long you have been out of the industry, it is much, much more difficult now than you remember.

IMHO, the goal you are aiming for, thinking you can do it on a single domain, and having to ask what to do with it, is not even remotely realistic.

I would forget about your domain and instead make a game plan about how you are going to get traffic to whatever site you are going to make. Without that, you're dead in the water. If you think affiliates are going to be the only source these days, you are going to be greatly disappointed.

Throw up a nice landing signup page on olddating.com. You don't have to build the site, just have a landing page that API's to another site or just collect the leads for later or after the user signs up just have it say thanks for signing up we will notify you when we launch. Next, hire an adwords expert to send you traffic. Do like $100 a day for a week as a test. If you can land users for under $2, you will most likely make money on this assuming you convert 1:20. Then you gotta build the site and get whitelisting and a dedicated server and IP's. I would bet you that older people will rebill longer.

This is how I test ideas. It costs about 1k to test to see if it is even worth exploring more. If you cant get signups for the right price then don't even bother building the site. Once you know the landing page converts, then you build the site, once that is converting you can look into getting affiliates with older people traffic.

Solid advice before dumping it all into something that may not work.

You would be surprised at what some of these adwords gurus off elance can do. Doesn't have to be adwords, try other sites that sell traffic. I have been down this road so many times with dating. The domain I feel has very little value. I have random 5 letter domains that convert better then really good 2 word domains.

After giving it some thought I think I want to be an affiliate instead of trying to have my own site. I've had my own site and after many years I only have a few hundred members, made $0, and had to deal with so many hackers who are creating 50-100 fake accounts a day, I dont know how they do it, that I have to delete and figure out who is real and who is fake.

I'd rather promote someone else like Senior Friend Finder or ourtime or something and just send them traffic business and collect checks and let them deal with all that bs.

I guess I should just try to figure out how I can make $100 a day promoting dating websites.
