I looked it up and the numbers from different sources are kinda all over the place. The lowest I saw (other than that blog) was 42%. Most sources say 43% No matter how you look at it...that number is too high. Hopefully it will come down to sane levels IF fuel prices can stay down and lower the costs of everything and keep the economy rolling. Which is yet another good argument for abolishing income tax and going with a national sales tax. Then EVERYONE will pay as they go. "Rich" people will still pay more (to keep the big govt. lovers happy) because they buy more things and buy expensive things. |

Just cause people aren't paying federal income tax doesn't mean they still aren't paying a good deal in taxes. |

There are a lot more poor people than rich people. Poor people spend much more of their money (usually 100% of it) on the things they want, and they pay the highest percent of taxes. Rich people spend less of what they have, saving it in the bank, and keeping it out of the economy and paying less taxes. Some place their money offshore f shore, paying less or no taxes again. Rich people with businesses use a variety of methods to pay less or no taxes on expenses related to their businesses. |
