50 cheating Patriots... :thumbsup

dyna mo 01-21-2015 11:09 AM

again, I'm not seeing this as a belichick designed cheat. if they deflated the balls, they could have just as easily reinflated them. belichick would not have just not thunk about that part and blown it off.

Re-inflated them when? They were all confiscated right after the game ended.

Nothing will happen. There is too much money behind the Patriots, and Tom Brady.

And every team doesn't try to do this in some way every game? :1orglaugh

And yes it was the equipment manager of the Colts that noticed it after Jackson gave him the ball.

The refs removed a couple balls from the game, and after the game all 12 balls were confiscated to check. Reported 11 of 12 were under inflated by 2 psi. So trying to split up Brady's stats in the game is pointless. They used the balls the whole game.

2 psi is a good difference when talking about grip to throw and catch. I hope the NFL comes down really hard on the Pats.

Your point is confirmed in this quick test by a yahoo sports guy ...

Of course they should be fined and more. If it was one or two balls, you could argue outside factors. But 11 of the 12? That's blatant cheating.

What I'm saying is, it doesn't make sense that the Pats (or any team) inflates them themselves in the first place -- and if the refs are going to check them -- why give them back to the team afterwards? That makes no sense. Something like this shouldn't even be allowed to happen and the NFL allowed for it.

no, they weren't. I was reading about this monday morning and at that time they did not have the balls and belichick was saying we will do whatever the NFL asks.

at the same time, your comment supports my view, belichick would have known better than anyone that they would not have had time post-game to reinflate the balls. so again, I'm doubting the veracity of the cheating accusation.

No argument there.

Interesting article on why this is 100% Tom Brady:

"There is no equipment man or sideline attendant or anyone at all in Foxborough (not even Belichick) who would mess with Brady?s footballs without his knowledge, if not active participation. That?s just how it works. You don?t go rogue on the greatest player in team history, particularly with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. And if they did, Brady would just order them to fix it immediately."

"If he didn?t instruct someone on the Patriots? staff to make the football agreeable to his preferences, then he must have noticed the footballs were underinflated the moment he grabbed one, let alone across an entire first half."

"This is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, known for his preparation and attention to detail. It?s not plausible that he didn?t either know or recognize the situation. There is nothing about the grip of a football that is going to escape him."

The Patriots was still a better Team that's why the Colts lost. The NFL is making a big deal out of it for nothing I could understand if it was a close game.

Nope. Not really.

People noted during the video taping scandal that it was "technically legal" at the time that they were caught, and my question was, "So why weren't ANY other teams doing it?"

There is the letter of the rules, and the spirit of the rules... and everybody knows what is fair and what isn't.

...And this additional incident brings us to this question. Belichick is a smart guy. If he has actually gotten caught twice now, what other stuff has he gotten away with?

You really think teams and players, every game aren't trying to come up with some advantage?

Don't both teams use the same ball?

No. Both provide their own.

3 sets, one for each offense and a separate bunch for both teams punters/kickers

Cool had no idea. Cheers

Give the Pats the Trifecta:

1. Suspend Belicheck for the Super Bowl.
2. Suspend Belicheck for the entire 2016 season.
3. Give the Colts a draft pick.

Now: can you imagine if the Pats WIN this Super Bowl WITHOUT Belicheck coaching them? And then Belicheck has to sit out the entire 2016 season while his team, the defending Super Bowl champions, play an entire season without him?

It would kill him and be the best punishment for this Machiavellian, Nixonian douschebag.

thabootypro 01-21-2015 02:10 PM

Deflating the balls didn't change the outcome of the game so I think that would be to harsh

The league doesn't have the balls to ban him or the Patriots.

izombie 01-21-2015 03:26 PM

If you really want to make the point that this isn't ok, if the Patriots win the Superbowl don't issue them any Superbowl rings. Or give them to Vladimir Putin.

hottoddy 01-21-2015 03:39 PM

How many times have the Patriots/Belichick been caught cheating now? I remember they were intercepting play calls for quite some time before being caught in 2007.

*Should be a big asterisk in the record books.
