Why it took so long for the Iraqi Army to mobilize and why they would need the Iranians to advise them is really a harbinger of worse to come. I think perhaps these guys in Iraq are dangerous alliance, or amalgamation, of Baathist Militias and Islamic Fundamentalists. Enemies who have become friends of convenience. The ones in Syria are anti Syrian Baathist Militias and Islamic Fundamentalists -- truly a marriage of convenience.

they are, just air power has limits. u saying US troops should occupy syria?

fact is we already kicked their asses in 2008 when they were al qaeda in iraq. they cut & run to syria, where they renamed & rebuilt. so if we kick their asses again, they will just run again, rename, rebuild, repeat. at some point the hometown crowd has to clean up their neighborhoods.
