Yes this is the obvious reason, but it didn't help them with Herman Cane after people saw how nutty he was. It also didn't help them much with Palin thinking a "women" would get swing votes.
We like to think people are stupid and gullible and they are but most people can "spot" it a mile away if someone is trying to assume they are stupid & gullible. People see this kind of thing as GOP putting up the token Black guy.. Woman.. ect..ect..
Colin Powell likely could of been the first black president had he not lied to sell the war on Iraq. He was the one guy in the Bush administration whom could be trusted. Then he lied.
It's not about being Black, or being a Woman.. people have to trust them and they have to not be a crazy lunatic with fringe beliefs..
