64 oz a day is the minimum one should drink, a full gallon or more if you're really active. Add a lemon wedge to make it even more healthy and refreshing. Most importantly, avoid tap water since it has bullshit chemicals added. Spring water is essential. What's everyone's favorite brand of spring water? I like Deer Park, or Berkeley Springs from West Virginia if you can find it.

I had a 65-69 pound dog that drank an annoyingly large amount of water everyday. I was constantly filling her bowl and letting her outside. Various vets said she was just drinking what her body told her to drink.

She lived to an old age of 17 1/2 when she started drinking less and less and then died of Kidney failure.

Oh really? I thhought we are fishes. I thought People vs mammal animals is obvious from title.

As for animals, I think domestic animals are different to wild. Looks at how deer drink. They are able to drink for minutes. From what i see in documentaries also canine animals are able to drink a lot. Plus you have to consider whether the mammal has passive / active regulation.

My whole point with this is that having ability to choose WHEN we drink makes us forget the natural instincts once we had.

In the wild, drinking the amount they need until their next possible drink, with some animals going for days without water :2 cent:

Let's not forget, it also matters whether you're using the water in the body. So working out for 2 or 3 hours as a builder or sitting editing a movie, would difference in pints per sitting.

After an hour shoot, sweating, hot lights, losing body moisture, it's easy to drink a litre or so of water :thumbsup

That was exactly my point. Humans loosing touch with instincts and having more convenient environment we rarely do "reserve" drinking.

Wild animals don't of course drink all the time unless they live very near of the water source.

I don't think humans have forgot natural instinct to drink. Try getting thirsty sometimes; I guarantee you will find your instinct to drink quite easily. During summer army exercises I surely found mine. Although I have been boyscout too (we did hang out with girlscouts FYI, no gay stuff), but for obvious reasons it wasn't as intense, as we were kids.

If you think that you have lost instinct to drink, you just haven't got thirsty.

Dry food may cause that, as the dry food is.. dry.

Ya I have never understood this either. Out of anything you can drink water is the easiest by far.

Not drink water, but drink more than certain amount. Every person has that (different) threshold amount, so not sure about your confusion :)
