Only bad recommendation I see is the Jack. I just scored a bottle of the Balvenie and its ++. Favorite is the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban. Best $60 bottle I've ever cracked.

I did all sorts of whiskey tasting in Japan, loved it! Settled on the Hakushu 12 year for my favorite bang-for-buck duty free prizes.

I second this recommendation, very tasty. And if you are looking for a great value among Bourbons, Four Roses Small Batch is nice.

My favorite whiskey is George Dickel, and I will sometimes buy Crown Royal or Maker's Mark when it is on sale.

Single malt and anything but neat, a few rocks, or water is Sacrilege. :winkwink: That having been said, it really is a smoky peaty whisky, but it's one of the reasons I like it. You may want to stick to the highland malts.

Whilst I do agree this is sacrilege to mix it with coke, it's either going down my throat with cola or down the sink which i think is much worse on the blasphemy scale :1orglaugh

As far as single malt scotch goes, the laphroaig was pretty inexpensive - i bought it at 150pln.

Lagavulin is kind of similar but way less shitty, slightly more expensive though, around 200 pln and you can buy it at Alma if you have one in your city.

Lagavulin is also smokey but more "wood" then "asphalt"

Best rye whiskey in the world in my opinion. (and in many many others) Of course those with 'less descriminating' plalates will disagree. :D

Tried their Crown Royal Black a few years ago, liked it. I see lately via commercials that they have a new skew called "Crown Royal Apple".... apple flavoured whiskey. Go figure. Haven't tried it yet.
