Do you know any one that has suffered from depression?

If mental illness did not have such a stigma attached to it, is their more of a chance he could have received medical help?

Is blaming and accusing people or compassion and help more likely to avoid a repeat in the future?

None of that has anything to do with what you wrote, which was he was a victim [of the war on terror].

he would not be dead if the door was not lockable. The door was lock because of the war on terror.

The door was locked because he locked it.

Okay so it's looking like a suicide but what I find strange is that the co-pilot kept quiet the whole time he was alone in the cockpit. You would have thought that he would have responded to the radio even if he ignored requests - almost all suicides leave a note to say why they are doing it and I would have thought that he would have done that over the radio. keeping totally silent is strange.

Actually contrary to popular belief most suicides do not leave a note.

Don't be silly now, doors were reinforced and made that they could not be forced because of "the war on Terror".

Before the pilot could have forced the door without problem.

Now french nazis want to remove the physician–patient privilege.

people with clinical depression still make a lot of very rational decisions - they are not raging crazy

most of their suicides result from not wanting to be a burden to others - mostly family

and they usually not kill other people in the process

but the victims in this case are the 149 other passengers and crew - not that guy that crashed the plane.

"usually"

If he had survived the crash and was charged would he have a mental illness defence?

I think you will find that people who are mentally ill are by definition not capable of being innocent or guilty.

I do not see where you desire to blame him, an ill person, gets us.

He did receive medical help, but outside of his profession.

From reading the main pilots forum, it's clear that much of that industry just doesn't get it. Anything irrational goes against the grain of being a pilot, and thinking like a pilot. People try to discuss mental health issues, but they're shouted down as being full of shit.
