How about if it isn't for a wedding or pizza?

No idea. All I know about this topic is the pizza thing.

Maybe they'll judge based on appearance. Soon, we'll have to stop wearing skinny jeans to get service.

I was watching the news yesterday and they had a couple of people on to debate this.

One guys said something to the effect of, "If a person who is gay walks into a bakery and wants to buy a doughnut or cupcake we will sell it to them, but if they want me to make a cake and deliver it that has a topper featuring two men on it, I can't do that."

To me it sounded like they were perfectly find with taking their money so long as they didn't realize they were doing so.

I find it fairly ironic that some here on this board of all places blindly give support to a law like this. This is a porn forum is it not? Do you supporters of this not think that businesses would also choose not to do business with you if they found out you do porn?

I realize you guys are blindly supporting it because your favorite political team is in support of it so you want to support your team and whine about liberals, gays and blacks.. However just think how nice it will be when all banks could deny your service due to your profession. We already see a bit of that today.

Do you really think it's smart to support this kind of religious fanaticism when you are in the adult industry?

Exactly! I live in this fucked up state of Indiana and I would never openly tell a bank or anyone that I wished to do biz with what I do for a living.

How come the business can't discriminate while hiring? I don't understand why they'd be allowed to discriminate against customers but not employees.

L-Pink 04-02-2015 05:22 PM

What's really funny is the whole premise is based on 2 gay guys actually catering pizza for their wedding.

Look I'm not claiming this is a simple issue and that I can explain it. What I am saying is religious freedom is the very first personal rights amendment and certainly that means something.

FYI BO voted for the first rfra back when Clinton pushed it through when he eras president.

Not to mention

There was no catering planned. The owner simply stated she wouldn't cater a gay wedding.

It seems like they didn't even offer catering. I wish I thought of it first. I can't believe the amount of donations they're getting.

Oh I'm with you. I'm on my mobile and can't type like I want. It is hard for me to make sense of to o. I can see both sides. But I do believe that the bill of rights is potentially being neglected here. That's a skippering slope.

They are free to practice religion in any way they want but it's not a shield for discrimination, otherwise we would be right back to segregation because people would start claiming it's against their religious beliefs to serve Blacks, Asian.. White.. ect..ect.. This isn't just a anti gay issue.. If they get away with discriminating against gay people the list will go on and on..

This is going to end up costing IL a lot of jobs in the long run. The biggest tech employer (Salesforce) in the state has stated they are halting any expansion and will scale back their operations in the state as well as give money to help any of their employees whom want to leave the state.

Like seriously? People from other countries love to say "The Usa is notorious for" "insert random bad shit here" yet what other country in this entire world do you see people flocking to by the boat load, bus load, plane load, semi load, and hidden under a tarp truckload besides the United States? There is a reason why the U.S. is over crowded and struggling to fix broken immigration laws and it isn't just because they flock here for our good pizza. My guess is a lot of people enjoy not only the freedoms we do have here but the laws that protect us from asstwats who want to discriminate and make it an unpleasant place to live.

Forcing people to allow everyone is against various freedoms in a nutshell. And USA is notorious in taunting that word.

bronco67 04-03-2015 07:55 PM

What you're seeing in Indiana and Arkansas is what happens when Republicans get full control of a state government. It's open war on voting rights, women's health and "the gays". They thought they'd slip this one by while no one was looking, but forgot it isn't 1950 anymore. People noticed, and some of them were supposedly on their side -- but even some conservatives are smart enough to know legislation like this puts their party on the wrong side of history.

What happened to keeping government out of everyone's lives?

Gay bakeries for gay people and christian bakeries for christian people. Why not right? I got my easter cake from the kosher bakery down the street though.

I have no idea. From the news photos I thought some young girl owned it? All i know is some little pizza store owner is sitting at home in Indiana staring at their computer screen in stunned disbelief contemplating moving to Hawaii.

Would be an even bigger story if someone other than the pizza guy is getting the donations lol.

I had to look it up. For some reason I thought the shop owner's name was jones. It's not, it's o'connor. The gofundme guy's fb says he's a public figure and private investigator. I didn't see anywhere that said whether or not he gave the pizza man any money yet.

The quoted article below tells who Jones is .......

"When asked by local press the hypothetical question of whether or not they'd prefer to have their family owned business, Memories Pizza, cater a gay wedding, the owner said no citing their own religious beliefs as the reason.

Rather than allowing this family to simply have their opinion, which they were asked to give, outraged people grabbed the torches and began a campaign to destroy this small business in small town Indiana.

All for having an opinion that is rooted in faith.

No one was turned away. No one was discriminated against. It was a hypothetical question asked by a news reporter who had questionable motives to begin with.

After being interviewed by Dana Loesch on her television show on Blaze TV, we learned that the family may never even reopen the doors to their restaurant as the death threats and vicious online reviews continue to pour in from the arbiters of "tolerance."

My name is Lawrence Jones, and I'm one of the television opinion contributors on Dana's show.

Before the televised interview, producers Rachel, Allison and George discussed the situation with Dana, myself and head writer Ben Howe. We all agreed: this family needs help to get through this assault.

So we set up a GoFundMe page with the modest goal of $25,000. The intent was to help the family stave off the burdensome cost of having the media parked out front, activists tearing them down, and no customers coming in.

Our goal was simply to help take one thing off this family's plate as the strangers sought to destroy them. "

I think this really shows that homosexuality isn't as popular as the media would like us to think ... for instance gay 'marriage' was voted down in CA, so a judge dumped the vote and made gay 'marriage' legal....sorta like when LA voted not to give out welfare to illegal aliens and the city counsel sued to overturn the vote :2 cents:
