Still seems like we think we're the center of the universe. Or at least it's promoted that way. |

omg! We're all going to die! Maybe Al Gore will give us a free ride on his carbon credit jet to another planet? I bet his jet's bumper sticker reads "Eat my carbon, suckers!" |

We will have fulfilled our part and our niche will become empty and free up a whole lotta space for other species to evolve without us hogging all of the resources! I say the sooner we are gone the better! :thumbsup LINK FOR YOU ASSHOLES TO READ http://i.guim.co.uk/static/w-1920/h-...2060x1236.jpeg http://i.guim.co.uk/static/w-1920/h-...2060x1236.jpeg http://i.guim.co.uk/static/w-1920/h-...2060x1236.jpeg http://i.guim.co.uk/static/w-1920/h-...2060x1236.jpeg |
Better answer Yes it is changing because it never has been the same.

Yep, the climate has been "changing" for 4.5 billion years on Earth. And it will continue to change into infinity. There is no "normal". It is ever-changing.
And I'd love to know how we are supposed to "fix" it. :) 1st off you can't "fix" what isn't "broken". And second...mankind doesn't have the ability to change it to what we want it to be no matter what. If we could...we would. |
Time for the scientific community to hire a marketing/communications team. After reading through the responses, it becomes apparent pretty quickly how little the average joe understands about the subject of climate change.

Just down the road from where I live, the Wisconsin Glacier stopped advancing about 30,000 years ago. It left behind an escarpment that gradually became Niagara Falls. There's a place along the Niagara River near Brock's Monument at Queenston where you can actually see where the glacier stopped, began receding and formed the original Niagara Falls (it's several miles from where the present-day falls is located). I do a lot of photography in the area and know it well.
30,000 years ago - man had no impact on the stoppage of the Wisconsin Glacier. It was all a part of a natural cycle. And that's how I tend to regard all the hype and hyperbole about global warming alarmists. Can we take steps to cut back on pollution to improve the planet? Sure...I'm all for it. But I don't believe for one second that man's influence on the environment is significant enough to trigger global warming. I tend to think the people pushing the panic button have either a vested interest in heightening people's fear...or using it as a diversionary tactic with another agenda in mind. |
dood we cant :2 cents::2 cents: its at random :2 cents: the only thing you can do is make a hypothesis. :2 cents:

Isn't "deal with it" the same thing as "do something" in a way? :winkwink:

im most disappointed in the stunted view of environmentalists who think carbon taxes & restrictions will solve anything. getting large populations to conserve is impossible. One can easily look at the way californians are not lifting a finger to conserve water even when jerry brown is sending out the bat signal. what makes progressives think china or russia is going to follow carbon limits? or japan not fishing the oceans to extinction? clownshoes. the earth will warm, & everyone who has a job will be fine. :2 cents: |

I tend to agree: There's little anyone can do to stop the population from growing. I think Carbon taxes are a great idea but for sure there will be some companies that wiggle their way out of paying. And of course not all countries will do what they can or should. We can only be responsible for ourselves. As for your last comment, I think that SOME people with jobs will be fine, but what about poor countries who's populations already live near sea level? Or are already facing record high temperatures? Do we as civilized people who are creating the problem in the first place, not have a responsibility to try to prevent it from happening? |
