Yeast from an air sealed packed, fresh :2 cents:

I drink my beer from my local German bar Cervecería bavaria - elaboración propia

The beer's brewed in the bar, it needs no additives or extra ingredients with all the natural vitamins & minerals, unlike other beers.

We rarely agree on anything, but tough to argue with Jman's response. However, if your beard is getting in your beer you might try braiding it.

it's the whiskers on the sides, where moustache meets beard, that seem to grab the beer out right out of the glass and then it just takes off! no probs with bottles and cans.

I love Sam Smith Imperial Stout, one time I got super drunk on it at a party and I was shitting black for days afterwards.

Baddog,

Two quick questions.

1. What is your stance on filling a growler to bring home from a brewery? How long will the beer stay fresh? Has the beer degraded over say 24 hours?

2. Have you had Chimmay Grand Reserve? Thoughts?

As I sip on my Batch 100 I decided to pay attention to what I do with the mustache hair that gets wet; I find myself subconsciously taking my lower lip and pulling it over the mustache to "Squeegee" the beer out of it. Works pretty well.

1. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, this was my collection 2 years ago:

It is probably twice the size now. California has weird laws about growlers and people interpret them differently. As a result, most breweries will only fill their growlers or blanks of the same style.

I think buying a growler can make perfect sense; depending on the situation and the beer. For the most part, a standard beer should be fine for up to 48 hours in an unopened growler. Once you open it, you have about 24 hours. Again, it really depends on the beer.

I am drinking an American stout right now. If I had a growler of it I could probably wait 3-4 days to open it and make it last 2-3 day in the growler after opening it just because it is a stout. I would never do that with a pilsner or IPA style.

As far as Chimay, I have only had two of them; the Chimay Bleue (Grande Réserve) and Chimay Spéciale Cent Cinquante. By my notes, I liked Chimay Spéciale Cent Cinquante better but Chimay Bleue was very good too.

What did you think of it? Which did you have?
